Booking a flight for a friend with my FF number, allowed/possible?

Hi all,

I'm looking at booking a flight for a friend in the US. Since she flights so infrequently she would get no benefit from the points earned, so I'm thinking why not get them myself. Is this allowed/within the rules? Thanks.

Nope. The name on the ticket must match the frequent flyer account to earn points.

You could sign her up with a free link, earn the points, then family transfer to yourself. That would be the only (sort of) legitimate way to do it.

You have posted this question on the AA Forum. Do you want to earn/redeem American Airlines Miles?AAdvantage allows miles transfer at cost. Cheaper to book an Award ticket in your name with the miles earned than transfer them to you.
As stated by the answers above there are no programs that allow someone else's FF number to be in the booking.
Some eg Virgin Australia allow points and Status Credits to be pooled to a family member.
