Perhaps Bonza/Flair need to pull their heads in.
I reckon you might be heading down the right path.

How much engagement did Bonza give CASA before announcing the wet lease? All these issues now should have been dealt with many weeks ago.

Considering the stumbles they had during the AOC process, I would be putting my money on Bonza missteps here.

Certainly turning into a balls up here. Surprised the media haven't caught onto this (and the Nauru covering too), although I'd imagine most are still relishing after their free media flights.

Nauru operating for Bonza again tomorrow.

MCY-ROK
MEL-ROK
MCY-MKY

According to the communications to passengers, “some of our fleet had additional maintenance requirements as a result of extreme weather incidents over the weekend.”

Nauru 737 seat capacity is less than a Bonza jet, so apparently a few passengers have been bumped from these flights and automatically rebooked onto the next available flights (Thu for MKY, Sat for ROK).

Complimentary tea and coffee is being served in lieu of their inflight menu.

I'm pretty sure Bonza paying for the hotel for passengers out of town that have been bumped to a flight the next day. As a good aussie airline should.

Nope. All they got from Bonza is a text message to say they’ve been rebooked onto the Saturday flight — 4 days later. And if that wasn’t convenient they could request a refund. Nothing about accomodation at all.

Regardless this whole mess is going to become very costly for Bonza if the Flair wet lease gets shelved. One would assume they would need to wear the contract costs even if it falls over considering Flair would have taken these crew/aircraft out of the equation for the coming months, not to mention making a profit from the whole deal.

Perhaps CASA still has Bonza on the training wheels, they have only been live for 10 months, they might want a couple of years of smooth running before getting some confidence in the operation, to then enable them to do things like wet leasing and so forth.

They had missteps during the AOC process which cost them considerable time and cost them more scrutiny from Canberra. That won’t be forgotten in a hurry. Such a wet lease has not been done before, whilst still within the rules, nothing stopping Canberra going over it with a fine tooth comb.

the mcy-mql service i was booked on for last saturday was cancelled, and all we were offered was a refund, nothing about accomodation

Very odd the Air Nauru operated down to Brisbane for a few hours last night then back up to the Sunday coast this morning.

Tomorrow might be the day.

Flight Radar listing C-FLKC as scheduled to operate OOL-ROK tomorrow.

Gold Coast Airport flight information also lists a Bonza positioning flight to MCY at 2130 tonight, meaning VH-UIK is most likely scheduled to position back to base.

Crew are all BNE based alongside its HQ and engineering. Bonza would be wearing that repositioning cost as part of the bill.

No doubt they made a tidy profit from this mess considering how last minute it was.

How are people supposed to book tickets if only the knowledgeable folk on AFF can somehow piece together the boza schedule.

The unwashed have no chance!

How many pax actually onboard some of these flights.

From what I’ve heard most flights are 70-80% ish full, either side of that is a burst of full flights and are some emptier flights on the other end.

Intra QLD and Tamworth are non performing.

Aaaand UIK now showing as operating ROK instead.

Looks like the Avalon jet is leaving this afternoon, flight plan lodged AVV-MCY.

OOL second tranche of flights start this Friday with Darwin launching. Remains to be seen how they are planning on moving forward with all these new additions over the next week, still an aircraft short.
