"Bonus Confirmed Complimentary Upgrade"?

I've got one too as a Gold.

Is is legit? Or similar to the "Friday the 13th strikes" issue of Nov 2009 - when they emailed everyone to say they'd reached Gold status - and later had to retract?

Doesn't seem to be any restrictions so I assume it is any Y fare to J domestically....not sure about VA International

May not have noticed this if I hadn't seen it on AFF. Got bonus upgrade also. Have the question also, will it upgrade you to business from cheap fares, or only from Flexi fare?

I have got it as well and so has wife with companion Gold.

Had a quick shout around the office - everyone who is a Gold or Platinum has received the bonus upgrade - Nice!!

(all of us are BIS, we have to do it the hard way)

I'm assuming it will be the same T's and C's for the platinum comp upgrades - have to be done from a flexi fare. With half price points to upgrade extended to December, I'll be keeping it in the bank.

I have one as well!

Status matched to Gold the first time it was offered and then requalified in June this year.

Have the 4 complimentary upgrades been dropped back to one? 13.14 mentions a complimentary and not 4.

Complimentary Fare Upgrades
13.14 In each Total Benefit Period, Platinum Members are entitled to redeem a Complimentary Fare Upgrade from a Flexi Fare to a Premium Economy Class or Business Class fare on four Virgin Australia domestic Sectors (Complimentary Fare Upgrade).

You'd need four to upgrade four sectors.

(and as a gold I got one as well...)

I have one as well

Was status matched September last year and have not flown with Virgin at all since

Whilst i'm glad to take the upgrade (and will indeed use it) Unfortunately I like to pair my 4 free ones now with a return trip MEL-PER twice a year. This means I have to do a leg in whY. How will I cope! ;)

(oh and I'm a BIS re-qual as well, it's nice to see VA sharing the love, although simongr got one too and he didn't re-qualify. They should give it to me instead :p)

Now it's making even less sense. What have VA done recently:

- not re-qualified? Here's an easier way to do it! (ie all the offers of book a return J, get 200 SC's if you take a flight etc).
- here! every SG and WP! Take another free upgrade!
- yeah we comped you SG and WP but you used our lounges for ATA and didn't fly us, so for all those keeping WP and SG as you re-qualified, you can't have ATA any longer.

They're making less and less sense (still, I will continue to fly them as they are providing me a far better service domestically than QF do).

Requalified platinum around march and pooled points to my wife who made gold in July. We both have a complimentary upgrade!:p

Got the status match to SG this time last year and have flown around 5 sectors with VA since then (mix leisure and BFOD for work).

Nowhere near re-qualifying at the end of the month, but received the one comp upgrade.

Anyone been able to work out if it is the same rules as the WP comp upgrades or can it be done from any fare bucket?
