If you purchased a flexi MEL - OOL oneway (via SYD) in the one booking transaction and wanted to do the free upgrade, does this mean both flights get upgraded? ---- or will they have to take 2 out of the 4 upgrades you have available, as technically this counts as two flights?

Appreciate anyone with prior experience in this situation.

I used the comp upgrades last year MEL-SYD-PER-SYD-MEL, purchased as one ticket and only needed to use 2 upgrades for the entire trip, while actually being upgraded on all 4 flights.

I did this exact routing to go to a concert in Melbourne with all flights upgraded, of course the down side is you need availability on two flights not one.

I've been trying to use it on Mel to coughet. While there is availability from Perth to coughet (where I have to stopover), Virgin will only allow it for the entire booking, not just one sector..as it was booked Mel-coughet, not Mel-Per-coughet. Annoying as I have 2 available to use and finding hard to use on something that isn't a waste. (Mel/Syd in Business was a disappointment)

I thought these comp upgrades are only available on domestic sectors?

I've heard of people that have been able to use them on short haul international.

Sent from my GT-I9300T using AustFreqFly

Go west young man (lady) as they say, and seek your upgrade fortune ;).

is this an unpublished benefit? DId you have to ask nicely or mention that you are a BIS plat, and not a QF comped one? I'm thinking of SYD x(per) DPS but the thought of buying a flexi ticket then getting turned down for the upgrade is too wasteful to risk - so any advice whether the ug's can be done on short haul intl is appreciated.

I've been told they can be done short haul, however yes the availability is poor and paying for the flexi is then no guarantee
