Boeing to take $US1bn charge for further delays in the new 747-8 | The Australian

BOEING has announced another delay to its new 747-8 Freighter and will take a $US1 billion charge, as production and design problems persist at its commercial aircraft unit.

The move comes as Boeing tries to get both the revamped 747 and its state-of-the-art 787 Dreamliner programs on track after lengthy delays that have damaged aerospace giant's credibility in the marketplace.

Boeing have hit a few bumps lately.
 
Boeing’s first 747-8, RC501, rolled out into the gathering twilight of a late fall afternoon at Everett on Nov 12 on its way to be painted and begin the final preparations for first flight in January.

The aircraft was quickly installed in one of the adjacent paint hangers from where it will later emerge in – presumably – Boeing corporate colors.
