Yes, in the greater scheme of things it was a pretty good deal...

In future will look for other road trips around the US/Canada, maybe in Europe and maybe in NZ..

Everything becomes even cheaper if sharing with another adult, might take my young one over there some time as well, although at 10 he might like the rides and amusment parks a bit more...

Will have to see, but you have to try these things to find out eh... :)

And yes, in some of those places the scenery is just fantastic, i drove from CAlgary to Whistler over a couple of days last year i think it was and the scenery was just magical...

I did another road trip last year out of Las Vegas to Zion Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon and Page Arizona which was all pretty amazing, but just in a small hire car and that is trip report is posted in my signature down the bottom...

That actually sounds like you got a ripper deal.
I've done the Orlando-LA drive in an SUV with wife and two kids. and we stopped at many of the places you did. Its an amazing drive to do, the scenery changes along the way are incredible.
Would love to read a Trip report if you ever get around to it.
I second that!

Hey Casanovawa, I have been looking into these RV relocation deals and would be VERY interested in trip report if you can be bothered writing one. Who did you book through?

Hi Guys,

We had one through El Monte last year. Was from NY to FL. 14 days / $1 day / 1800 mile allowance from memory and able to have for a max of 21 days at a reduced rate for the extra week if you wanted.

Good experience over all but a few traps you have to be weary of that could cost big $$$$ if you aren't smart. Happy to discuss in private if anyone wishes.

Mine was through Imoova.com, but it was an El Monte vehicle, they are probably just a booking agent with agreements with a whole bunch of different companies wanting vehicles relocated...

And yes it was a bit of learning experience but all up very doable...

This is coming up for me later this month.

I was able to get 20H for both segments but they moved me to 21C with 21H blocked - this is for all flights at the moment so I assume there is an issue with that seaton the new config.

A bit over a week ago, my VA2 flight was cancelled - I was placed on the VA*DL codeshare to SYD, still in class "T" - however, my DL shadow PNR shows class "E". The BNE VA flight shows Y0 so sold out.

I am trying to get a seat up front (C+) but it seems not an easy task due to the "E". I can pay US$135 to move. It is down to Y2 B0 so I need to resolve this.

It will also be interesting to see if I can get into the TBIT lounge with the VA flight number otherwise it's T5 SkyClub.

Mine is also coming up later this month. Currently have seats in row 27 for myself and partner (she is Gold) on VA1 and VA2 - can't remember whether it was possible to get seats further forward, but I wasn't fussed as I can't sit in normal economy seat anyway. Was thinking I'd have to pay for exit row, but space + might do - can gold get them at no cost, or does everyone have to pay?

Also, can I buy exit row through VA call centre in AUD or do I have to buy through Orbitz in USD?

VA call centre will assist with this.

Note that you need to pay extra for any seats in rows 20 to 25 these days ...

Has the date passed that they are doing this? I can't remember.

I could choose from those seats for free (both online and at check-in), and I have no status to speak of. The FA on board mentioned something like until they have refurbed the lot, they won't charge for them yet.

We fly out on VA7 on 17 August, currently have 31D and G, will ask in the load checking thread next week but are hopeful of the space in between staying vacant. We do have a bid upgrade option that started at 550USD per person but has since dropped to 390USD

We fly back VA8 on 20 August, same seats, no bid upgrade option this is were I would like it as I step off the plane and need to be at work asap.

Yes we have ESTA.

VA8 will be pretty full (as is DL41).

VA2 was cancelled about a month ago. (I'm on one of these fares and have been moved to the VA*DL codeshare.)

Today is flying day on these tickets.
we booked BNE-SYD-LAX VA1 and VA7 LAX-BNE on the 3rd of September
got to the Domestic terminal with plenty of time to spare did the lineup and when we got to the counter with our passports we were not on VA912 to Sydney nor booked on VA1 to LAX? turns out VA1 was delayed so it was decided that we would be put on VA7 direct which is fine, except nobody told me. Lady at Virgin said it was Orbitz fault and their responsibility to notify me, which is fine, except for even in my velocity account and on the app (when it works) I was still shown VA1.

My heart was seriously pounding when she said if we don't get on Va912 to SYD that our whole trip would be void....

So now I sit here at the International terminal until we can check our bags at around 7am.

Hopefully that is the only hiccough you have. Good luck with the rest of your trip.

Award wallet first gave me the heads up about VA2 being cancelled and me being moved to VA6551 (codeshare on DL 41).

Orbitz did send me an email about 36 hours later by which time I had already secured seating.

I arrived back in SYD a little under two hours ago and am about to take off back to MEL. (DL rebooked me on a later flight as DL 41 was 32 minutes late, although I would have caught the original).
