I'm booked onto QF937 BNE-PER in late April. It departs Brisbane at 13:00. I have a connection to QF9.

I was curious to see its on time performance, so looked it up on FlightRadar24.com only to find that it hasn't operated since 5th February 2022. The QF website shows it starting again on 27th March 2023. (I'm only checking Mondays, because that's the day I'm on QF9) The website also shows QF941 operating from 13:15 until then.

I know it's common for flight times to change, sometimes quite significantly. But it seems strange that a change of 15 minutes would cause a change of flight number.

Is this something I need to watch closely? Or am I worrying about a problem that doesn't exist?

I used to do BNE<>PER quite a bit and have found loads very full of late, and almost always 737s as opposed to 330s that used to ply the route. It would be great if more capacity is coming back on, maybe keep an eye on schedules from early Feb to see if the new flight does in fact change and start.

Has 941 been retimed from that date as well?

27 March happens to be the start of the Northern Hemisphere summer schedule so perhaps QF is renumbering flights again:

Thanks. I didn't realise that.

I'm not sure what impact that would have on their 737 fleet. I hope it doesn't mean they'll be swapping the 787 for a 737 to LHR. :)

Is it on a linked PNR, ie, same tix all the way from BNE - PER - LHR?
If so, 16.30 to 19.30 is an ok walk from QFd arr at PER T4 to QFi dep at PER T3.
With a linked PNR, you show your passport to check in BNE QFd, and the data is sent to PER., so you don't have to go to the QF counter at T3 in PER, just need to go through outgoing immi and security screening.
If its on a separate PNR, then you will need to present yourself at PER T3 to show passport.
Do not just do OLCI for BNE and PER - LHR, thinking its all a done thing, as your passport needs to put into the QF system by them swiping it through their keyboard.
OffT I was on a QFd to QFi trip, ADL - PER - SIN, had done OLCI (linked PNR, ie, same tix all the way to PER and then SIN).
Bear with me, grin, so as I go to the scanner machine at the gate for ADL - PER, it kept beeping red, gate CSA said to go to closeset service desk, lucky there was one in the dom secure zone at ADL airport.
He swiped my Aust passport onto the reader.
I went back to the gate, and it was green.
I had about 3 hours in PER, at that time, QF still used T1 int dep.
OnT,

Yes, it's on a single PNR. Unless there's a significant gap between the flights, it's the only way I'd book it. I had separate bookings for a trip to Europe last year. My return long haul trip was changed because of the war in Ukraine. It was then departing before I'd arrived on my previous flight. I know you can sometimes save money with separate bookings, but I like the fact that it's the airline's problem if they change the timing on one flight.

As for OLCI, I also have an onward domestic connection on BA, so MMB already says it won't let me check in online. I have about 2h 20m between flights in Perth

Ok, pity no OLCI, hopefully BNE check in can do the passport swipe and can provide you, or should provide you a BP all the way.
I haven't done BA and QF partnership, but have done the EK and QF one from/to CHC, live in ADL, (but always have had to do a linked PNR in SYD.
Have flown out of T4 and T3 (when VA used that one), several times, just next to each other, so 2 hrs should be ok.
Best of luck, anyway.

They've certainly issued boarding passes for onward flights before. But that was before the current "generation" of passports. I do remember them checking them at the domestic check-in though. I'm not so worried about that though. I was more concerned about the flight not having operated since February last year. It would be nice if they swapped the 737 for an A330. But as long as they don't swap the 737 for a Dash-8 so they can use the 737 between Perth and London, we'll be fine. :)

I wouldnt do a same day connection over that distance, delays can be caused by cough weather, to many pilots/ Air traffic controllers on sick leave, aircraft technical issues etc, i would fly to Perth the day before.

Thanks for the advice. I booked this over a week ago. It would cost me around 3k to change to the day before, plus the cost of accomodation there. If there's room, they have time to book us onto QF1
