Have to travel to LAX from Brisbane in a couple of weeks for a fairly heavy week of meetings. I have the choice of taking the direct flight (which only has business class seats) or going down to Sydney and getting the F service.

Any recommendations? Is the extra comfort of F worth another 2-3 hours transit and travel time between SYD and BNE, and what are the seats like in J on the direct service?

Thanks for any feedback.

I would take the scenic route via SYD since F is definately a nicer way to travel and it is a long trip

If you take the non-stop service, then the business class should have skybeds

I would consider routing via MEL to get an F seat. The MEL transit between terminals is much easier and makes up for the longer flight time.

I would definately go the long way for the F vs the J. My theory goes -

1. If there is a last minute aircraft change, SYD or MEL aircraft are more likely to have Skybeds for J where as BNE may see you in an older J type seat.

2. Long haul is definately worth all the extra comfort that you can get esp if someone else is paying.

3. You are going to claim lots more FF points and status credits in F vs J.

Also, I would agree with NM that MEL F to LAX is definately worth considering if you can get that vs SYD F.
