OffTopic:4 months to fix an escalator?
I know nothing about escalators but this seems a little excessive....
I agree that if you're refurbishing or carrying out extensive maintenance on an escalator then it would take a prolonged period of time. But this upgrade does not make it sound like its a refurbishment, rather a replacement.Honestly I think most people here have no idea what they’re talking about. A quick look at reddit and other sites you’ll see people complaining from just about every city in the world.
Here’s one from Singapore - which last I checked, was in Asia. MRT quotes 4 months for escalator refurb. They explain why it takes so long in this article.

Why escalators at MRT stations take so long to repair
We thank Mr Soo Weng Keong for his feedback on escalator service at MRT stations (Maintenance and repair of escalators at MRT stations taking too long, July 10). Read more at straitstimes.com. Read more at straitstimes.com.www.straitstimes.com
The escalators at the QF Lounges in T1 have taken forever to complete.
Last time I was there they were still using the staircase to exit the lounges.
Wonder why that’s so different from another escalator in the terminal ?
