It was announced today in the P1 newsletter that QF is replacing the escalators for the above lounge, and access will only available before security.

From 7 April 2026 until early September 2026, the Brisbane International Lounge will be undertaking essential works to the lounge entrance escalators. During this time, members will need to access the lounge directly after checking in, before security. Please allow additional time when leaving the lounge to clear security before boarding your flight.

The EK lounge is open from 17:00 - 20:00 (and 21:30 - 01:30); may be a consideration for those flying eligible Qantas routes. (US is not an eligible destination).

This is a poor outcome for people wanting to access the QF lounge - particularly if their gate is at the far end of the int terminal.

Thanks for this. As a consequence of the change - what are the lounge options for QF business class flyers out of BNE International? Any AMEX, or pay-per-visit lounges?

4 months to fix an escalator?
Actually 6 months which is the same ridiculous timeframe it too at both the SYD and MEL domestic J lounges but in SYD you could use the Qpub escalators or lift and in MEL one escalator and stairs.

Clearly escalator repair/replacement is a cushy job where speed is not of the essence.

If there is no airside access they may as well close the lounge.

If this was in Asia, we'd probably have it up and running within a week.

Always confused me as to what they could possibly need for that long to do. Are they perhaps removing the old esclators, doing the measurements after, ordering and manfacturing new escalators?

I watched them install one at MEL T1 overnight then it was up and running within a week.....

Common sense would assume they could measure and make the new ones before ripping out the old ones; but seems they turn off the existing ones and do nothing whatsoever for months before finally installing new ones.
