Where is Meloz - I think his company repairs runways. Must be some nice gouge marks![]()
Oh joy, I'm doing MEL-BNE tonight...
Before no news gets in - it was all Qantas' fault. Period.
Dumb question, but why wouldn't they have put it down on the cross runway? I'm assuming it was a metro. That way the main runway would have been unaffected
Aircraft was a Toll operated Metroliner VH-UZA. Pilots were aware of undercarriage problem and advised of a wheels up landing about 15 minutes before the touchdown(crash) which occurred at 2:31 am local. Both pilots uninjured
Apparently (Well according to News.com.au anyway) it was a Toll Aviation turboprop that did the wheels up landing, wonder if the airport management will send Toll a bill!
Cheers

A bit of quality reporting there. If they don't land on their undercarriage, how else do they land?
"Light plane landed on its undercarriage at 2.30am
