Hi There,

My wife and I are planning to travel to Paris via AUH on or around 6th April. I`m WP VA and SWMBO has no status. We have roughly 168,000 points we could use. VA show reward seats on the 6th April and the VA help desk shows AUH to Paris again on the 9th so a 2 day stopover. Then on to Paris.

I need to return to start work again on Monday 5th May and my wife will stay on in Europe to walk the Camino and then visit relatives in the UK, (yes she has a great life) returning late June. At this stage we are not sure of her return date so would prefer to book 1 way only for her, she has a UK passport so no issues there.

My questions are:

Is it that much more to book 1 way fares? If it is we would consider booking a return for her.
Am I better just to book my return using the points I have and use cash for her flights?
I`m only thinking of a stopover in AUH as thats where Etihad fly through and I have VA points to use, open to any other options or deals out there at around the same time.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Have you looked At booking to SIN and then catching a flight ex JHB to AUH then nesting a CDG return using points? You can get Y pretty cheap (just under $500) and drop the BNE MEL leg, J is under $2000.

Hi markis10 thanks hadn't looked at that option. I was looking at BNE to AUH via SIN not through MEL. So use va points for BNE to SIN, pay $ SIN to AUH and then points again AUH to CDG possibly return?

Kind of, you need to go from JHB which of course is just across the boarder from SIN, if you decide to do it ex JHB on Sunday you can get a VA 777 and seats in PE for Y pricing like I did last Sunday, then book a separate points trip to CDG and back, picking up the trip to get home from AUH.

Hi aupirate,
I have some completely alternate suggestions for you but can you answer these questions:
1. What class are you intending to fly?
2. Are you only willing to fly VA/EY or will you fly other airlines?
3. You need a 1 x BNE-Paris return and a 1 x BNE-Paris one-way. Is that correct?

Hi Browski apologies for my late reply I ended up pulling the trigger on 2 one way VA points fares using my velocity points on EY. Stikl haven't booked my return flight but must get on with it. Will probably just come back the same way at this stage.

If you want cheap one-way CDG-BNE Business class fare options then let me know.

Thanks Browski I'm afraid I will be down the back somewhere in cattle class.

If you are performing a FF redemption then ok.
but you can get J class seating for about $1900.
PM me if you have interest.
