Just spent about 20 minutes in line waiting for the luggage belt to start working again. No check in possible until the electrician did his/her magic.

Lots of announcements and pax on soonish flights were pulled forward.

Hopefully there wont be a recurrence for the evening peak.

Am now in the QP enjoying the soup.

It's a day of baggage mishaps for Qantas.

SYDs baggage check-in was apparently having problems for around 30 mins this morning (and I believe manual tagging of baggage was required). It delayed several flights, and there are follow-on issues in the network.

Yup - baggage problems this morning departing Syd. What a mess! Does anyone know if the problems were related?

Nah, the problems at BNE were purely mechanical and resolved by the electrician. Once the belt moved the luggage was able to be checked in.

Any ideas on the issue in MEL - see the October meets thread - there seemed to be lots of delays ex-MEL. Maybe just 763s cascading after visiting BNE early in the day?

A flight SYD-MEL was delayed for at least 60 mins (IIRC it was the 11:30am one) "due to technical requirements". No doubt that created further issues downstream.

Most flights ex-BNE in the morning to SYD were 15-30 mins late. Mine was 30 mins late (15 mins delayed originally, and then another 15 mins due to a minor tech issue in BNE.) Onboard crew claimed the original delay was caused by connecting International passengers on the previous SYD-BNE sector (but I presume it was actually baggage issues);

Thanks Mal.

"Due technical requirements" really is a rubbish excuse that has no real meaning (or ifyou like, a whole lot of rubbish ones).
