Nobody I spoke to knew anything about a safety history ... and once the fact of it not being a Mainland China airline was made apparent, no negativity remained...

No negativity from me! If CI is like the nation of Taiwan, it'll be pretty darn good. Taiwan is an interesting (plus advanced and well organised) place to visit. None of the occasional hassles, or more frequent rude behaviour, I've experienced in mainland China on occasion.

Seat utilisation on Sri Lankan's MEL - CMB flights continues to be good. I don't know what yields are like but this may be one of the more successful launches (in its case, relaunch) of a new route into and out of Oz for some years.

It's good to see this route doing well on load factor at least. UL has a decent product and Sri Lanka itself is a wonderful country to visit.

This has to be the most boring thread ever! Who cares about load factors etc?
Seems more like a competition amongst contributors as to who can use the most acronymns in a single post.

Well I have been reading every post hoping to glean some information on how this translates into cheap ticketing and or easier redemptions. Is there any correlation to bums-on-seats?

Not necessarily, but there can be. Some airlines want to fill seats (provided they perceive they can cover their fixed and variable costs per seat with the extra revenue).
