Are you sure, in the Coles group I don't think they let you use a giftcard to buy another giftcard...

I don't have an entertainment book but can you use someone else's book to buy for another person or is there a $ limit etc?

It is definitely possible but I was turned down in Macquarie Park, Sydney over Christmas. Since managed to do so at another Big W

Well I guess it could depend on the checkout operator, but I didn't encounter any issues last time. Others reported success using the self-service check outs and just getting the assistant to come over to load the funds and not telling them you are paying with an e-Gift card.

The point is that it is not against the T&Cs and the purchase systems allow it so fill yer boots, I say.

Quite easy to convert DM e-giftcards to wish cards instore @ WW.

I converted to WoW gcs when there was the 10% off Big W offer in December 2015 - not a problem. Nobody challenged me when i asked them to do it on two occasions - first a trial run for a few hundred and the second high volume for a few months worth.

If someone queries it then just say, "See if the system allows it. If they did not want it done it would not process."

Unusually I agree with JohnK on the YMMV point, while there are plenty of people who have been able to convert with no issues, there are also plenty of reports on OzBargain of people being denied, and indeed direct quotes from BigW management that this is not "supposed" to be allowed.

I probably wouldn't let this stop me but more so understanding that some may question it and you may need to try another BigW and/or find another operator. As we all know with gift cards what is supposed to happen and what you can do frequently are quite disparate, but you should never rule out over zealous operators stopping you doing this.

I bought one today and popped into Big W to buy a Wish card with it. The operator initially tried to tell me that I couldn't pay a gift card with a gift card, but when I asked the reason why, she got a supervisor who then said that yes you can buy cards with other cards unless there's a discount promo in the store, when it's not allowed.

So yet another piece of different information!

Yeah but we're talking about Big W e-Gift cards, which can be used to purchase WOW plastic WISH cards. I have no idea if they can be used to purchase other non-WOW plastic gift cards.

EB has regular offers but they do crop up elsewhere (Groupon, BigW stores). EB does link to the WW EGC portal

The BIG W Store eGift Card is redeemable at BIG W stores and BIG W Online only and cannot be used to purchase any other Gift Cards issued by Woolworths Limited

I don't recall seeing this before. Did you happen to notice it when you purchased, Lizzi?

I'm pretty sure it has been listed in the T&Cs ever since they were specifically selling Big W egiftcards that are only valid at Big W.

I didn't see it last time I purchased, just the first bit about only being valid for use at BigW. Ah well, YMMV much more now I suppose!

I took a punt on $1000 worth of eGift cards and have managed to convert them to WISH plastic cards. Two staff members on the floor said it wasn't possible, however a manager upstairs said it was OK and the system allowed it.

That being said, the wording on the PDF eGift card has changed since I last did this is December so I suspect it has also changed on the web site. The wording is as per my post above (#95), whereas the old wording was:

This eGift Card is redeemable at BIG W stores only

It feels like the ability to convert eGift to plastic WISH will be coming to an end..... Odd though that staff seemed sure it couldn't be done whereas previously they did not bat an eyelid. I sued the same store too.

From your account it would seem they are pretty keen to stop them but their systems just aren't up to it (yet) so totally reliant on vigilant staff.
