Hi friends,

Hope this finds you well. Probably a bit of a very open-ended question, but just wondering if I'm more likely to be able to score a J-class points upgrades on a weekend - rather than weekday - QF flight between Sydney and Singapore?

Many thanks!

The answer to this question is very route dependant. For example, your best chances of an upgrade out of Canberra would probably be on the weekend. But this is not the case for Sydney-Singapore.

I would say that a departure between Tuesday and Thursday would actually have the lightest loads in business class on that route. The weekend flights are generally much more full!

By the way, if you have a particular travel date/s in mind, let us know and we should be able to advise on the best flight to pick based on current loads.

I agree, mid week is probably the best bet.
Perhaps a trick could be look at the average airfares across all classes on the days you would consider traveling. On the days with the cheapest tickets still available it stands to reason that the loads are lighter on those days, thus the odds of been successful increase.

Of course, a variety of other variables (such as your status, the average status of other pax, any events happening around the same time) can all affect the likelihood of success, so the standard advise of "expect to fly in the class you booked, and anything better is a bonus" applies very much so here.

Mid week is your best bet. But it does depend on routing + peak seasons are a factor.
