I've had 50k miles in my UA account and I was thinking of using them up as I don't plan on flying UA again in the future. I also don't fly *A carriers that much. I think 50k is enough for a one way J ticket from SYD to a South-East Asian destination. Is that correct and is that the best way to use up my points?

Well, you could always refer to ual.com. How about a 1-way C class tix from DPS to HNL for 35 K miles? Much better value?

I had a look at ual.com and a J ticket from SYD to SIN or BKK is 45k one way. One thing I noticed was that there's never any J inventory available on the SQ A380.

Best value in my opinion is within zone not between zones. You need to then work out ether you can use this, but within Oceania has a great opportunity, Aus to Oceania is pretty good in some cases ( eg Perth to Rarotonga via Singapore!)

Thanks for the suggestion. I also saw that a one way F saver award from SYD to Japan is only 55k! Might be worth topping up a bit to get that.
