Best Way To Get Qantas Club Membership

Have decided I want Qantas Club Membership, don't have enough travel to get to gold, but still want it for the semi regular long haul flights I do.

I don't want to pay full price however, and was wondering if anyone could assist in any of the following.

1. Is there a way to get it free?
2. Is there a way to get passes for free?
3. Is there a way to get it at a discounted rate?
4. Would anyone with enough FF points for me to purchase one consider transfering them to me (Brother In-Law Style) and if so at what price.

Just checking my options here, I reckon there must be heaps of people with millions of FF points as per option 4 who might be willing to sell them. Same goes for passes etc. Anyone know of a way to buy a membership at one of the good corporate rates without working for them etc.

I just read my message again, was very early in the morning when I wrote that and it sounds like I want to do something fishy or get it for free.

I actually am happy to pay for it, but I've seen so many references to getting it at a discount at least standard corporate rate that I don't want to pay full price.

So any suggestions of how to get it at a reasonable price are welcomed.

What class of travel is your semi-regular long haul flights? And how regular is semi regular? YOu might be able to qualify for AA Platinum via a challenge which gives you QP access.

1. Getting it free. Find yourself a live-in partner who travels so much each year that they qualify for "Partner Gold". Failing that, find an employer who gives it to staff or fly the relevant miles to get it as part of the Gold/Platinum Frequent Flyer level.

2. Free Passes. Two "Free" passes are available with your first Qantas spend on the Qantas Premium American Express card. May still be some offers around for the first year free for this card. You'll also get a "free" pass when you reach Silver Frequent Flyer level.

3. Discounted rates. Definately! I've seen some of the prices that some corporates get, and they are pretty amazing. Most aren't open to the public. Some are. You tend to find discounted rates with a lot of professional bodies (eg Accounting/IT/Engineers etc). If you're qualified for membership with one of those organisations, then you may be able to get their rate.

4. Risky, but someone might. Qantas really doesn't like people selling points, or trading to non-relatives. While they may have limited enforcement capabilities regarding these kinds of transactions, they could always suspend an account they suspect of being used incorrectly. I wouldn't be too happy if my account was terminated!

You have already pointed out the way to buy your way in; pay dollars or points, with the amount you have to pay depending on what organisations you may belong to.

To fly your way in; there are heaps of posts on here about “status runs”, so if all your international travel gets you close to gold, it might be worth while considering the cost vs return of a quick extra trip. (Don't forget to factor the effect of status bonus on your future points accumulation as well.) Internationally, of course, you can fly your way in via business class.

To impress your way in, well someone at Qantas needs to think that you are an important Australian or visitor, and deserve a Chairman’s Lounge membership. (P.S. they do fly down the back, I was on a domestic QF 737 flight yesterday, and glimpsed enviously at the CL printed on the person next to me’s pass, [viewed across a blocked middle seat, in row 4 of course].) Or QF writes your name down in "the diary" for some reason.

So let’s rule out 3, and say there are two ways for most mere mortals to get into QC!

I am not sure about getting a Qantas club membership yet but I am sure its not free.
