Hi all,

What's the best way to book fares based on the results from an Expert Flyer 'fare information' search? Just to ring up a travel agent and give them the Expert Flyer results and try and get them to book it for you?

FYI, I'm looking at ADL-HBA via MEL on Sat March 5
Cheapest QF tickets are $209
Expert Flyer search results in O class show cheapest tickets of $174

Thanks for the help!

The fare prices listed on EF are net fares - ie, don't include GST or other airport/country/airline surcharges.

On a standard QF fare ADL-HBA, it's priced:
Fare 1 x 181.11
Charges/Taxes 29.89
Total Price $211.00

So the end result would be pretty similar.

Also, getting domestic fares cheaper through agents etc is extremely rare. There is extremely little commission (if any) paid to agents these days (normally is only paid if they meet certain sales targets).

Ok, thanks Mal for that info. :)

I may as well just book through the Q website then....though it would be good if you somehow knew what class fare you were booking when you booked through an airline website so you could get the cheapest 'economy' fare as compared to 'discount economy' fares to maximize status credits

Hoch86 - if you click on the fare type (red e-deal, sale, flexi etc) on the QF website the pop-up box tells you whether it will earn SCs in economy or discount economy. Same is true for JQ fares on the QF website (and also the JQ website I think). Other airlines it varies but there is usually a box or a link somewhere that refers to 'fare conditions' or 'fare type'.
