Oh, and does anyone have a link for the Credit Card Authorisation form online? Wouldn't mind seeing a copy or keeping a copy for future simplicity.

I'll see if I still have it in my email. I may have deleted it.

Did you find the Credit Card Auth form? If not, can someone else please post it?

file is too big to upload - please give me your email addy and I'll send it through (you'll need to modify all the fields each time)

I have just completed my first AA website booking and subsequent ticketing.

Taking the good information in this thread into account, Mal's "Legit" way was employed.

I made the booking around 4pm last evening and held it. I then called "India" and with a few alphas, bravos, foxtrots and the like it was ticketed this morning.

It may be actually cheaper for me to do this way as by paying in AUD's means no forex fees on my CC for being charged in £'s. When you are looking at £800 bookings that a real consideration.

You are probably quite right; AMEX have a 2.5% fee now. I found the UK office quite helpful and they talk good English (of course) so there is no communication issues but they charge an extra fee for Australian CC's also.

I'm looking at booking a journey BOS to HNL; There is a 5% discount code available for the period of the travel which saves about USD35 on the price.

Of course, when using such a code it can't be put on hold, the UK method would have to be used. Then we get a CC conversion fee cutting the saving down to about AUD25. Blance this with the risk that I may need to do an authorisation etc with the UK method.

Decisions, decisions :( .

Just book over tho phone in Australia and pay in AUD unless the saving is worthwhile enough that the UK method is worthwhile

OK, so I do that and quote the discount code. Is there a 'phone booking fee for doing this?

Most AA discount codes I've seen are web only. Check the conditions carefully.

Hello all - my first post here. Hooray.

Re. booking an AA (US dom) flight, maybe I'm missing something - last night I booked my family AA tix one way from New York to LA on Expedia. Only about $A270 each. Paid for on Amex (so more FF points too).

Am I the only poster here who's used Expedia for these sorts of flights??

Cheers

Hi Blackcat. Welcome to AFF!

There are reasons why booking flights with carriers direct are advantageous. Expedia charges a service fee, whereas booking through airlines direct normally don't have booking fees (There are credit card fees or assisted booking fees sometimes though).

Additionally if you have to cancel tickets, or change them at the last minute, then the airline is normally easier to deal with than a travel agent.

Travel Agents have their place. Just not for all bookings.

My booking just completed a full week after attempting to speak to the indian call centre. It must be frustrating for them, like it is for us, in having to spell out ones name over and over and over and over again. The line quality is absolutely atrocious.

Does anyone have a way to contact someone in Australia? I have booked a flight with them and albeit after a number of problems the money came out and the flights issued. Now I have checked my card statement again and found that they are trying to take the same fare out again. I will try to call India but will no doubt get nowhere....

Have they actually charged the card again or is there just an authority hold? If the former, then I would suggest disputing the charge with the debt card company and if the latter, just see if it drops off in a few days
