With the demise of Westpac Singapore Airlines cards from March this year (points earned reduced to 0.5 per dollar spent) , what is the best card to earn points for Singapore airlines? I have an amex but can't always use it .

Unless someone can suggest a better option, for my circumstances, I will be reverting to using my "free for life" (so I have no costs to use it) Citibank Gold VISA Card.

Note that the free for life offer lapsed long ago.

It earns at 1 point per $, which transfer at 0.66 to KF. For me 0.66 to KF is much better value than 1.00 to QFF, as J Savers on SQ, or J *A Awards, are much better value.

However Citibank does have some bonus partners., and so that can boost earn. Was good when JB HiFi was awarding about another 4 bonus points per $ for example. The number of partners is currently quite limited though.

One negative is you can only transfer in lots of 15,000 points. No biggie for me as I would eran that ina year or less (most of my spend goes onto Amex where possible and viable).

Was going to do the same thing, but with the Citibusiness gold card (gives 1.25 citi points per $1).

According to the Citi website and comments here, 1.5 citirewards points = 1 KF point

So technically you are earning $1 = 1 citi point = 0.5 KF points? is that right?
With Citibusiness, its $1 = 1.25 citi = 0.67 KF points

No..as stated by me = 0.66. ie 1.0/1.5 = 0.6666666666666666666666666

I was aproximating..0.67 would be more correct.

With Citibusiness, its $1 = 1.25 citi = 0.67 KF points

1.25 x (1.0 /1.5) = 0.83 KF point per $ spent.

In my case...I save the $149 Fee and $30 supp fee = $179.

As my VISA spend will not be large per year I will stick with the fee free cards.

Ah sorry, I was driving by 2, not sure why I did that

Hmmmm

Should I cancel my $250 Westpac Krisflyer card (Amex $1 = 1.5KF, Visa $1 = 0.5KF) and get a $149 Citibusiness (No Amex, Visa $1 = 0.83)

Alternatively there is the $295 Westpac Platinum (Amex $1 = 1.5KF, Visa $1 = 0.5KF) but you can accrue Altitude points instead of having points swept over as Krisflyer has a 3 year expiry

Amex and Visa spend is about 50/50 so prob makes more sense to use the Krisfl;yer card, only problem is the $250 renewal they are asking for

have always had 100% of my Westapc Fees refunded...however even with it being free I will put my Amex spend on direct earn Amex Crads as I have found since I have hada direct earn Amex that ones effective earn is normally more than the 1.5 as there are normally various promos and bonus partners.

So KF Card will be cancelled. For my circumstances I was only keeping it as it has earnt to KF at 1 point per $ on the VISA...so the original 3 bonus points on the KF amex was very nice....with the 10K sign ona small extra bonus.

For some the Edge Amex wil be attractive..and I may take one out as well as my other Platinum Amexes.

Amex has historically been free for me as I have always had my fee refunded, though I have paid the $900 for The Charge Card this year due to 75K sign on and international(or Cairns) return flight.

In 50 days time the Visa part of the Westpac Kris Flyer Platinum card will revert to a pedestrian redemtion rate of 0.5 points per dollar of expenditure.
Their American Express Kris Platinum continues to earn 1.5 points per dollar so it represents great value for taxes, supermarkets and travel, accommodation and meals.
I plan to switch Visa points earning to Woolies and CitiSelect which earn points on QF at $1 equals one point.
I will keep both plans running at full speed and won't dump any card.
CitiSelect (Kris Version) is $700 to earn the extra Kris points so you have to do your own assessment of value which would be based on your expenditure. Citi call centre is a real test!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Tried paying my taxes on citi platinum but not credited to kris flyer. After several calls and a promise to look into it and call me back I finally was told that govt. charges will not be credited. Not happy with any aspect of Citibank.

Cove will not be happy at that news if it is common to all Citi cards.

Well I put a 6 figure amount on CitiSelect QF version for the Mrs and she has the points.
The most challenging part of Citi is the call centre and there has been a thread on them as 3 calls can get you 3 different answers.
Sounds like a wrong answer so make another call provided you have not exceeded a cap limit that may apply to your Platinum Citi card.
CitiSelect has no points capping.
If all else fails use Westpac Kris Flyer Platinum Amex card for taxes.....the points will cost 0.833 cents so they are great for J or First redemptions but too expensive for Y redemptions.

Lovetravellingoz thank you for your concern.
I had decided post 15/3 that I would do taxes on Westpac Kris flyer Platinum Amex as the SQ product is so good for getting un-stuck when QF is offering dust!

Out of interest with CitiSelect what is the transfer rate to KF? ie does $1 spent earn 2 points or 1?

You earn 2 points per $1, but to QF it only results in 1 QFF point per $.

My VISA spend is oo light to justify the $700, but I am curious none the less,

Lovetravellingoz the problem is you dont know which of the 3 answers to the 3 calls you could make is the correct answer when you call Citi.
I cannot even read the phone number on the back of the $700 CitiSelect card so that is pretty much how your Citi journey starts!
Someone must have the Kris version of CitiSelect but it is not me as Westpac Kris worked so well but the count down clock is ticking for their Visa.
Can someone help us with the actual Kris conversion rate for CitiSelect to SQ?

It would "seem" that CitiSelect will earn you 1.33 KF points per $ spent.

I surmise this aafter bit of googling and reading..

It seems that with CitiSelect you have the choice of two programs. Citi Rewards..and Qantas Rewards.

Qantas Rewards is clearly stated as one point per $.

With the other program it just states that you earn 2 CitiRewards points/$...and from what I can google there is only one CitiRewards Program, and if so you 2 points will transfer at 0.66666666666 = 1.33 KF points per/$.

Let you know tomorrow. Paid my BAS last Friday on Citi Emirates Card.

I got an extension on my BAS was due 21 Jan and noticed the new deadline of 21 Feb for both this month and next, my credit card statement rolls over on the 22 Jan .

My Citi Emirates Card account showed the Bas payment today. On checking the rewards , the appropriate 1.5 points per dollar have been added.
