Best Vegas Strip accommodation?

Ha! So am I! Off to see Chris Angel tonight. Tomorrow night is "O" with some sort of Insider Access backstage tour in the afternoon. Back in a couple of weeks to see some more shows. I keep coming here to try to see Penn & Teller, but miss them every time! Oh well, there's always another time!

We left Vegas earlier this morning and am in New Orleans :D

We spent five nights there and had the best time of our lives with a dozen close friends who flew into Vegas from around the world - to see us get married :D :) ;)

Married in Vegas?! Fantastic! Oh please please tell me that you had it officiated by you-know-who?

We haven't had a dud hotel in Las Vegas and we have been going there for years. Always consider a room upgrade if you get an offer for around $50 a night extra.

+ 1 for Luxor. Just for the experience of staying in a pyramid.

A different option, where I've stayed twice - the Trump Hotel. Only just off the strip, but with near top floor large suites with great views from around $130 a night. Similar quality to Trump hotels in Chicago, NY etc but for a quarter of the price. As I said a little off the strip, but easy walk to the main strip and buses, free shuttle to Caesar's. No on-site gambling so place is clean and pretty quiet.

That's the only place I've stayed in vegas, so can't compare with others unfortunately.

This thread is titled "Best Vegas Strip accommodation" and obviously that's highly subjective but a tired, faux-luxury casino wouldn't be high on my list. For me, it's tough to go past the Mandarin Oriental. It's a bit more expensive than the casino hotels where your room is subsidised by gambling, but it is a more "boutique" way to experience Vegas. We'd return in a heartbeat.

Looks great! I know Mrs C would love it :) !

I've never used LAS as a resort destination: the times I've been to LAS have been to attend conferences, so the only time I spend in the room is to sleep and shower (lectures usually run 0800-1800 then there's the functions and/or shows), so bed and bath comfort is high on my list (and perhaps a view whilst getting dressed!). Once the conference is over, we're off somewhere else. I don't know that I would ever have time to savour that lovely bath & view or sit in those armchairs for any length of time <sigh>.

Stay across the road from the place you like in the cheaper better no-name that looks at it.

I thought we'd have a good view of the Fountains.........

I'm really interested in the Bellagio mostly for the 'experience'

........ with hopefully less of the low frequency "boom boom" as the fountains fire up.

My sister-in-law and husband stayed at the Bellagio and had an extraordinary suite (looked like a 2-storey number) overlooking the fountains and said that she eventually got used to the sound of the fountains.

We stayed at what is now Planet Hollywood but was then Aladdin. If you look at the picture posted by Alanslegal there are two 'wings' jutting off the hotel. We stayed towards the top in the front curve of the wing on the left in a room that looked directly at the Bellagio fountains. Loved it.

Yep. We'd only ever been to Vegas for a couple of days but last year decided to spend 5 days and use it as a base. We drove out from LA because we wanted the experience of driving through high desert (we'd only flown previously) and as we aren't gamblers (not for any philosophical reasons, just because I can calculate probability) our interests were Red Rock Canyon, The (real) Grand Canyon, Le Rêv at Wynn, é by josé andrés (what is it with Vegas and accented e's??? ;)) and lounging by the pool during the day. I highly recommend it if you like that sort of thing. :)

We stayed at Four Seasons Hotel on our last visit to LAS:

Have stayed at the FS. It's a bit like the FS Sydney ... has the name but not much else.

I've stayed at the following ... ranked in preference order;

Mandarin Oriental
Four Seasons
Caesars
MGM
Paris
Planet H .. work booking made by others

Makes the car kinda gooey and sticky, though........:lol:

After our last visit to LAS, we did a similar high desert thing. Drove LAS -> Zion NP; stayed two nights, then via Kanab and Page to Monument Valley NP for two nights; it snowed the night we arrived, so we had white icing on the red valley for half a day - beautiful. Then drove to Grand Canyon south rim, two nights at El Tovar, then back to LAS. Two nights everywhere made sure you had at least a full day to explore each location (plus at least two mornings and two evenings for appropriate photography).

Back again to let you know how it turned out...

I'd intended to take the AFFers advice and check out the Cosmopolitan, but I had a case of brain fade and forgot which hotel I was looking for! Besides, I think from previous browsings there wasn't anything available there in our price range on the dates we wanted anyway.

We ended up at Aria.

It. Was. Fabulous.

It's technically a little back from the strip, but is mid-Strip between Cosmopolitan and MO with it's own 6 lane driveway into the property from the Strip, and with free valet parking. We booked the AAA rate for a king room, which from memory was about $330pn. It was over budget but we thought we'd splash out. On arrival the receptionist saw that it was my birthday and gave us an upgrade to an $850 king city view suite on the 52nd floor with exec lounge access. Wowee that was great, probably the nicest room we've ever had. It even had two bathrooms! Photos didn't really do it justice but here's a few.
