Hi all,

For the last several years I have redeemed mainly *A Awards, and so I am somewhat out of practice with what is best value on booking awards via QFF. Things change; rules, routes , points required OW partners etc....

So it would be useful for myself, and I am sure many others to know what are the best vale J/F redemptions/routes out there using QFF points for leissure travel?

ie Oneworlds RTW redemptions are clearly good value. I have noted that to Africa that flying non-Qantas reduces the point cost. So what are the "best" value redemptions out there?

CRITERIA:
  • Use QFF points
  • Can be a Partner Award
  • Can be a Oneworld Award
  • Assume Bronze status -Ignore Upgrades, and routes being done to boost status (for myself this is not an issue as I only fly J or F)
  • For leisure travel (so will want to have reasonable time at any destination)
  • Points - I have 0.8 million, but ignore this as I am sure knowing what great routes / destinations are about will stimulate holiday thinking for many

I would be most interested too.
Quite surprised that there have been no responses so far. Does that mean there are no good value redemptions?

A difficult question.... Value has to be an individual judgement. Broadly speaking the OW RTWs as you already have said, or J(M)ASAs, to where you want to go, would be the best value in my view. The MASAs generally (used to) cost little more than a Classic, with the SC and points benefits.

I am very happy with the value I have achieved for my SYD-MEL-LHR-MEL-SYD JASA (256k points and $1550, returning about 60k points and 560 SCs - not to mention a trip to Europe) - and keeps me a WP for another year as well.

I am sure others here can see much better value for their points, but that will be based on what they want out of them (some people find value in Woollies gift cards, but who am I to judge!). I was shocked to discover recently my cousin used her points for an Ipad. If I had known she was going to do that I would have bought her one and done a family transfer of the points!
