spent QF 30,000 points on 24 Grant Burge Pinot Noir Chardonnay NV 200ML ($250 retail) = 0.008 c per point

Thank you, looks like Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial NV can do even better. 62,390 points for $55 retail, about 0.89 cent.

The conversion rate for flights is irrelevant as a comParison to non-flight redemptions where flights are not available when you want to fly.

I agree on sales fares, points plus pay will often work out better because of the cash needed to buy classic rewards which deliver no status credits. But tics on points plus pay are fair lousy value.

Just remember, the company takes all the points if they stale or the person dies so which would you like ?

A toaster is definitely better than stale points....

How much do you value the Qantas point? And how much are you willing to pay to acquire Qantas point?

While Pointhack and others often give Qantas point a value at roughly 2 cents and above assuming they can be used for J classic rewards or upgrade, I often consider the value of point as the immediate value I can get when never I want/need it, and therefore I only value it at the gift card vouchers that can be redeem any time, and used for various necessities (food, petrol). What is the value of "money" if you cannot use it when you want/need, and also nobody else out there could buy your "money" according to Qantas T&C (if it can be traded, actually it would have a value that is defined by the market. For example a house cannot go down too much in value as there will be people jumping in to buy on the fear that if they don't, someone else will get the house first).

When you use points + pay to book a flight, what's the value of a Qantas point partially used to pay for a flight? Is there a fixed rate?

As a matter of interest, has anyone found any value from the limited "classic awards" available at Qantas Hotels, whereby a select number of Hotels have accommodation available at a set number of points per night?

It may differ, I think some data points may be useful. I checked the amount of points required to fully fund $442 worth of flights this morning, and found that it came to a total of 64800 points, which is 0.68 cents per point.

This seems consistent. I'm just booking a flight on jetstar.com and it's offering to let me use points for part payment at the value of $0.0068 per point.
