Hi Everyone,

I've been faithfully collecting QFF points for a few years, a combo of flying and credit card bonuses. I've accrued about 190k points at this stage. Would love to keep accruing and fly first class one day but due to some health problems I'm restricted to Australia for the time being. I'm looking at taking a trip to WA (from Sydney) in July and I'm considering using some points to fly either one or both ways in business class to reduce the stress on my back. Is this flight generally considered a good use of points? (I know not to use them for international economy!). Additionally, if my friend was to take the same flight but in economy (either paid or on her own points) would I be able to guest her into the business lounge prior to our flight? Or no guesting without status?

Thanks for all the tips and insight I've learned on here so far!

I think it's pretty decent value. Upgrades are only 20K each way from a saver as well, and should clear instantly if there's U availability.

As for the lounge, yes you are allowed one guest (who doesn't even need to be flying)

The value of points is definitely in the eye of the holder. If you think it is a worthwhile use then it is!! As a side, I just flew the product myself and it is of international standard. It was fun!!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Pick your flights carefully! If you take a midnight departure from WA all you'll get is a bowl of soup and then a tiny muffin before landing. Fly lunch or dinner and you'll get something a bit more substantial.

I'm sorry to read of your health issues :(

If SYD-PER seems a do-able thing, would you be able to consider a trip over to NZ? It's almost domestic really, a bit shorter travel time, and you could enjoy Emirates' First Class (currently on sale, even) or even their Business Class on the A380 too, plus access to the international lounge for you to splurge and enjoy an experience while you can.

Just a thought.

I might consider an NZ trip towards the end of the year, thanks for the heads up on the sale! :)
