So I'm not sure on when is the best time to go for these - I'm not really in a position to do anything until September, but I'll max the plastic for some good fares if need be.

The Problem
To bring the future Mrs Whereishome over for Christmas with my family (NRT-BNE) around December 18.

Then return with her after NYE in Sydney (January 2-3 SYD/BNE-NRT)

Then come back later in January myself (NRT-BNE)

So I'm looking at an NRT-BNE return and a BNE-NRT return, with the return leg of one fare on the same flight as the outbound fare on the other (the BNE-NRT leg).

Clear as mud, right?

Looking at QF/JQ since that's who I primarily prefer to fly internationally with. Would maybe be willing to consider JQ, but when do you think the cheaper fares open up for QF? At the moment they're showing rack prices of about $2200 with taxes...

Or do you reckon I'm better going JQ?

It is unlikely any cheaper fare on QF will open up during the period you have in mind.

It's peak season and most return fares are based on departure date.

Blast! I was hoping I might be wrong on that, and that someone would pop out with something nice...

Oh well, better work on those sales figures. Anybody want to drop $1 million dollars on an event in Brisbane? I'll do you a really good deal...
