Best time to Book Xmas/NYE Travel

Hey guys,

I was looking at flying from Adelaide/Melbourne to New York/Toronto during the xmas/new year's holiday. When is the best time to book for this period? I'm guessing prices will just steadily increase every month.

Is there a cut-off period for when I should have booked Xmas travel?

From my experience, fares start high and generally stay there.

Sometimes awards are at their best value at these times, but for around NY you really need to be looking in January.

Traveling in High season ex-Aus, general rule of thumb book as early as possible, as Airlines are unlikely to realease any significantly cheaper fares between the start of the year and your travel date for that time of year.
