Please excuse the cross-posting - I asked this within a thread in the "Cheap International Airfares" section and was uncertain it would be seen by many.

Anyway, I've just taken advantage of the half-price F fares offered on BA.COM between SYD and SIN. I'm booked on BA016 27 Aug and returning on BA015 on 01 Sep. The system has allocated me seats 2K and 2A respectively for each flight. From the "manage my booking" screen, the seats in row 1 are taken but 3A/K are available.

Having never been in BA's F cabin, I'm wondering if anyone can advise if there is much difference between rows 2 and 3? There appears to be no row 4 as you would find in a QF F cabin.

Row 2 is good in the BA herringbone config in the 744. Row is possibly not allocated as BA do hold this back from pre-allocations for their highest status members (Premier and Gold can request it). If you check-in online you may be able to snap up row 1 seats 24 hours out.

Note that row 2 shares overhead locker space with row 1 as there is no overhead space directly above row 1 seats. Row 2 gives the best feeling of space to be found in a cabin of 14 seats (unlike on QF where row 2 has least aisle width).

But remember there is no bad seat when you turn left :D .

There should be a 'row 4'.

The seats are thus:
Code:
     BA16 BA15

  A E F K A E F K

1 X X 1 - -

2[Y] X 2 X [Y]

3 X X 3 X X

4 X X X X 4 - X X X

5 X - - X 5 - X X X

 X :Free
 - :Allocated

It appears many would say you have scored two of the BEST seats aready.

Hello everyone, FIRST POST HERE

Personally I like 4A and 4K as you have a bit more space on the side similar to QF. Otherwise 2A or 2K are the next best seats, as row 1 the seats are very close to the person in the other seat on BA.

In my opinion BA First is for privacy and QF First is space. You have much more personal space on QF but not as much privacy as BA.

That would be row 5 on BA 744 aircraft.

A QF Plat can grab Row 1 seats in BA F through MMB (Manage My Booking), as can BA Golds.

I believe it's blocked off for all others, maybe including other OW Emeralds. (Not sure if BA can see what your status is except if you're with Qantas or BA).

You should be able to see rows 4 and 5 in MMB, there is a scroll down window on the Right Hand side of the seat selection page. The default view is only rows 1-3 on the plane. It can be confusing because the scroll bar area uses three colours of dots - red, black and white. White means seat taken, black means seat free and red means your current seat.

If F is pretty full you may only see white dots (on a white background) and that can get confusing.
