So what are the best SC per $ you have done or about to do or even doing currently??

Anywhere in the world......

Just did a SFO - LAX instant upgrade one yesterday all went smoothly only on the ground for 20 mins in LAX not even enough time for a coffee and bathroom break!

Might head off for one of the 300 in a day runs SFO - SEA via LAX when back from Hong Kong and China next week!

Does it have to be intentional? Got transferred to a J fare a while ago. Credited as 60SC for $75 or $1.25/SC. Oh, and flying out of CBR :)

I've done AKL-WLG, and earnt 10SCs for ~$30 AUD (at the time).

A jetstar $8 fare, earnt me 10 SCs due to the NZ promo, so $0.80/SC? NB, I did get some 1c jetstar fares, but these are for next year, when the promo has already finished.

Theoretically, if they gave the SCs for these, they would earn 10 SCs each. This gives a $0.001/SC rate, or in other words it would only cost $1.40 to earn platinum on these fares, or $140 for LTG...

+1 on SFO-LAX 120 SCs for $350 - $2.90 / sc

I'm doing some I class runs ex TPE on CX in DEC
TPE-HGK-MNL-HKG-TPE $350 200SCs $1.75 / sc
TPE-HKG-SIN-HKG-TPE $450 240SCs $1.88 / sc
TPE-HKG-KUL-HKG-TPE $450 240SCs $1.88 / sc
TPE-ICN-TPE $350 120SCs $2.90 / sc

and the LAN run (this has been well publicised)
SYD-AKL-SYD $699 160SCs $4.35 / sc

:p

Suva-Nadi for FJ$38 = A$2.5 per SC. I would never do it again though as it was a propeller engine plane older than me!

Recently did SFO-LAX-SEA-LAX-SFO in a day (x2) for a total of around $2.33 per SC. It's gone now, requiring an overnight in SEA. Appears to be a change of schedule has killed this one now.

Of course, I'm ever on the hunt for similar :)

SFO-AUA via DFW and MIA netting 270 SCs at $2.10 per SC.

ANC to Caribbean and vv is still a good earner per $.

The Best SC per $ I have done are those that have cost me $0 (employer paid flights).....

PS - Hi all, first post.

My favourite was ~$US1 / SC, which is unfortunately no longer available.

My 2nd favourite was ~ $US1.25/SC, which again is unfortunately no longer available.

There have been other good ones at times, but like most good things, they are kept rather quiet!

The best I have done in the USA is ~AUD2.5/SC in 2007.

I have a few status runs coming up in Dec/Jan and the best of these is ~AUD1.70/SC. I would not intentionally go out looking for status runs but if I am in the right place at the right time....

Mark,

I think you'll enjoy the trip - Alaskan is a good airline, SEA one of the better airports in the US IMHO; lots of shops, food, and the Alaskan Board Room better than many AA Admiral's Clubs, again IMHO

Ignoring the $0 per sc for work travel :p, theres pure status runs that the chaser wouldn't normally do, but then there's also the marginal cost of getting SCs for travel that will be done regardless of chasing status or not.

I'm planning to travel to SIN-BKK shortly, and cheapest fare on LCC is about $210SGD. I'm happily talking myself into a status run on CX (after using a voucher) of $470SGD in business class. So status credits are worth about $3.10 (AUD) per SC, but given I would be spending $210 anyway ... the marginal cost is a mere $1.70 per SC ... a good way to talk oneself into a status run :!:

Just booked a SFO -> LAX -> SEA -> LAX -> SFO on the 8th december for $710AUD for 300 Status credits.

very good deal i feel.

thanks to drewbles for the heads up!

Did you have to make two separate bookings or is it all just one booking on AA?

chrissimon,

Remember to always check americanairlines.com.au for fares as they are frequently the same and therefore the booking process can be simpler due CC isses etc.

i found on the aussie site not all the flights come up the booking system is different on the australian site for some reason, also the USA site does not take a aust C\Card so you will have to call them BUT they will wave booking fee as your having issue with web site.
