Thinking about going back to Fiji in March, and keen to hear about others experiences at different resorts.

I have been to Fiji twice and have stayed at the Shangri-La Fijian Resort both times. Would like to try somewhere different.

Thanks

Sheraton Royal Denarau Resort is pretty good but very expensive.

Hilton are building a resort in Fiji, I have the information so I'll dig it out and post with further details...

The Warwick Hotel is the pick IMO

Great restaurants. Great Bar with view. Own "deep" water beasch and plenty of coral to swim around.

I like Malolo Island Resort for a combination of reasons - it doesn't take too long to get there from Nadi, great atmosphere to get away from everything, decent facilities and not wildly over the top prices.

The Warwick gets my vote as well, very nice facilities and comfortable rooms. Only negative is the 2 and a bit hour drive from Nadi Intl, and (unless FJ have changed their schedules NAN-SYD) the need to leave at 2am for the trip to the airport (on the way home).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

My wife and I stayed at Vatulele resort - way over the top in terms of price but easily the best holiday I have ever had - right down to the personal butler with golf cart at the ready not to mention all food and drinks included! Shame it will never happen again.

The Warwick and N**** ? are sister resorts I stayed at the
N***** which was very good, but people thought the Warwick
was nicer.

What I liked about them, was they were all inclusive. So
food and most activities (i.e. snorkoling) were included, but
you had to pay for other activities such as horseback riding
and sailing.

I'm a big fan of the Sheraton Denaru, check out my trip report for there on Flyertalk (4 nights in Fiji).

The Sofitel and Hilton properties under construction on Denaru Island look pretty good.

I found the Shangri-La over-rated with cough food. Too damn far from Nadi for my liking, too.

Worst place I've stayed in Fiji? Holiday Inn Suva. Had a great conversation with the sentient mould in the bathroom.

Oh dear. I am going to be staying there next year. Need to stay in Suva for two nights, and its really the only option - as far as I know?

Yeah, the sad thing is that the Holida Inn IS the best place in Suva. The joint masquerading as "Raffle's" is just a tad misleading. The barman might be able to knock up a Singapore Sling for you - but it sure ain't Raffle's!

If you get room service there, DO NOT ORDER A BURGER. The "chips" that come with it are chicken-flavouered Smiths potato chips.

At least it's walking distance to the only KFC in Fiji.

The Sheratons are OK, one of the best resorts is Vatulele, but v expensive.

The Holiday Inn is the 'best' in Suva but awful as Shillard says.

If you are adventurous, there are lots of guest houses way off the beaten track on islands such as Ovalau (the former capital - beautiful island) and Vanua Levu (which hardly anyone goes to).

The north east of Viti Levu has some great beaches known mostly by locals.

Cheers

Just got back from the Sheraton Denarau Villas last week.

Right now the Sheraton Royal Denarau is a big construction site though they still have rooms available and should look fantastic once its completed and becomes the Westin.

They are also in the process of upgrading the Sheraton Fiji resort, but the rooms are a bit hit and miss. Some of our party had upgraded rooms with plasma tv's while others had quite old rooms which was fixed with a call to the duty manager :D .

My pick is the Sheraton Denarau Villas. We had a 2 bedroom Seafront Villa and even though they are over 10 years old, they aren't showing their age. You get your own roof top terrace which is great for afternoon drinks over looking the ocean.

I agree with Shilliard regarding the new hotels going up on Denarau Island. I'm not sure of the completion dates for the Hilton or the Sofitel but both will be nice once finished.

I have a link to a site detailing the refurbishment at the Sheratons so PM me if you'd like more info.

bravoecho1, welcome back from your exhausting week-long honeymoon, trust you are now enjoying the Sunshine Coast...congratulations to you and Mrs bravoecho1

Did you see the Hilton's new site?

Thanks Lindsay. Glad to say everything went perfectly (can't say the same for Air Coconut - on time performance - 0% but thats a different story).

I'm actually now back at work, but we have the second part to the honeymoon in Jan/Feb to the Middle East. We were on the SC during the deluge last week, but luckily you don't need to go outside for your honeymoon  .

I saw the Hilton site which is closer to the marina than the Sheraton. In the Air Pacific on board magazine they had rooms at the Hilton for sale, starting from $450,000 (can't remember whether whether it was AUD or FJD). They looked pretty good. The Sofitel is being built next door.
