I'm off to London this week and wouldn't mind picking up some champagne. My options are Sydney on departure, Abu Dhabi during transit or London on arrival.

Sydney has a website so I can check variety/prices, but couldn't find the same for Abu Dhabi. Just found a website for London and comparing Veuve as an example: SYD = $65.00 LHR = $43.00.... do you think Abu Dhabi would be more expensive or cheaper than LHR or SYD?

Hayden the price of Veuve at Costco in Los Angeles was under $29US so that should give you a target to get down to during your trip. The champagne came in chiller containers so I bought six as gifts on my last trip for friends and helpers in the US.
Costco tend to add about 15% to their cost so the wholesale price must be around $25 to $26 as a guide.

Thanks Cove... so it may just be better for me to locate a bottle shop in London and buy retail (afterall - great exchange rate at the moment!).

Maybe, but you can pick up some good stuff in LHR. I was there in November and scored a Dom Perignon gift box with two very nice glasses for AUD$140ish (around $300 if you buy retail here). There were great prices on Veuve, as I recall.

Oooohhhh... thats exactly what I'm looking for! I might keep on sniffing online and see what I can find...

Hayden now you are moving in the right direction. The exchange rate should allow you to move towards Dom and KRUG and leave the Bolly and Veuve on the shelf.
Make sure to tell us what you find as shopping in London with the current exchange rate should be fantastic for all sorts of things.

Hayden you can save the British economy almost single handedly just with thirst quenching!

I bought a bottle of Dom (Standard, no fancy gift set) in AUH 3 weeks ago. Cost was $158 AUD in total. Cost me $150 AUD in Bali, $270 AUD in DUB and the cheapest I can get it in the bottle shops in Au is $260 (WA).

AUH is quite cheap.

I drink it like 7UP...... :)
