Noreen you are covered and that is quite a good price.Although i use one of the prepay sites generally I do always check the rental agencies direct as sometimes you do for some reason get a great price.I on 1 occasion did deal direct with Hertz as they didnt charge a drop off fee so saved $500 on the rental.The day before i booked and when i checked a week later they were nearly $1000 dearer than the price I booked.Put it down to yield management and needing to relocate a car.
However if your booking can be cancelled do check the prepaid sites in the New Year.usually some time in January they will have Earlybird deals which can be at a significant discount.

thanks Drron will do, I did also get a quote from Travel Jig Saw and they beat National again so their price for same car with Alamo is base rate (inc all the taxes/insurance etc is $836.84 AUD minus GPS or $1269 AUD including GPS, Tank of Fuel and Extra driver.....so they certainly look and read OK regarding the T & C's and a few people here have also used them..but will check again in January and see whats around. Really appreciate everyone's input......

From the difference in cost, I imagine you could buy a GPS in the USA and still have a lot of change.

You can buy a TomTom Go930 in Aust for around $A530 and it has world maps. Certainly cheaper than buying extra country maps for another decent model.

Hi all
Have decided to go with Travel Jigsaw quote follows but they could not offer me road side assistance insurance at this time they say that I have to do at Alamo when we get there. Also mentioned that the windscreen, undercarriage and tyres never included in these insurances, does anyone know does that come under the road side assistance cover ? All in all happy with this company and will pay the deposit soon ( unless anyone has any comment?) just to have it bedded down, worse case scenario lose $150 deposit if we need to cancel.

Windscreen, undercarriage and tyres never seam to be covered by car rental companies.

Roadside assistance (that you pay at the counter) is the same coverage RACQ,RACV,NRMA would give, - car will not start, change flat tire, out of fuel, locked keys in car. (take your Australian card with you if you are a member and the AAA (American Auto Association) will give reciprocal rights.

Usually there is coverage for a excess amount on a vehicle.
