Having just done 10 weeks RTW, Bose QC15 = probably the best tech investment I've ever made. Even comfortable enough to wear whilst sleeping.....

+1 Absolutely agree about the QC15's.. Certainly my prized possession on board, whether short or long haul.. Have slept ever so well, comfortably wearing them on many occasions.. ;)

Best
The plain old 8 socket power board with just one adapter. Can run all the electrics for the family with only one adapter. Bose QC 15 headsets a close second

Worst

My Ex-wife!

BEST - Bought my Bose NC headphones to make life more comfortable on the farm when out in the tractor, just love them, wouldn't be without them when flying either, just take them off momentarily and you realise the racket they are saving you from

Also, one of those soak up moisture towel thingies, wonderful for drying your washing, and inflatable coat hangers for hanging those delicate tops on to dry

WORST - eons ago I bought a travel iron . . . don't know what possessed me..!!!!!

OMG! Had a fellow traveller ask for an travel voltage adapter for one of those back in 1988 in a Grand Canyon campground.. I exclaimed 'you got to be joking"..
Should be classified as the saddest invention.. to date..

Best purchases:
Sony MDR-NC500D headphones (just need adaptor for CX plug..anyone know where I can get one), and I have some Sony MDR-NC300D in-ear for shorter trips when I don't have bag space for the fairly bulky 500D hard case, plus I can tolerate the "in ears"for much less time...not sure I could stand falling asleep with them in either.

Big zipper bags for squashing clothes (useful for RTW HLO trips!)

Worst:
Used Sennheiser Noise cancelling PXC-450..they are ENORMOUS and failed not long after the very limited warranty expired
individual country plug adapters.. have a whole drawer of the darn things

I enjoy catching up on TV shows on my iPad on long haul flights (a good season's worth can make passing the time on long haul flights so much more enjoyable). I did find trying to watch Game of Thrones on the plane a little awkward though...

I concur for GoT...some scenes had to be skipped for viewing on US domestic flights or Euro flights...was overjoyed when I boarded CX and got to watch all of season 2 in coffin class. Can't wait for series 3 next year.

CX's phono plug (like a 3.5mm plug but much larger?) Jayycar sell them.

Obviously you guys are too young to remember, but the large CX jack you refer to is a standard 6.5mm stereo headphone jack - yes - Jaycar sell them, among other places - most places that sell real component sound systems will have them as well as many Amps still have 6.5mm jacks.
Stoopidstev - I am pretty sure I have a few spares - PM me if you want one

@stoopidsteve - try and get non coffin new J on CX and you can route your iPad entertainment through their screens and headphones - awesome!

Thanks guys, but I meant the three pin headphone jack they have, not single 5mm. But I did a bit of searching, and apparently the third i to provide power to their headsets, and the 2 pins I have should be fine. (sorry if this is OT)

The larger plug is 6.5mm - and yes, places like Jaycar and proper stereo shops sell them, along with 6.5mm to 3.5mm and 3.5mm to 6.5mm adapters.
Also known as 1/4 inch and 1/8 inch headphone plugs.
The standard airline twin plug adapter is simply 2 x 3.5mm mono pins to a single female 3.5 stereo plug.

When i purchase any gadjets it always useful for me, coz i am traveler person i travel arround the world and gadjets are very assential for me, so i have all the mobile related accessories i used during travel.

One of the best would be my old and current iPhone/iPad cases.

I first had an otter box, a great case which protected my phone in snow, sand and 100,001 thousand drops.

It started getting very shabby after 2 years of service so I recently got myself a life proof case. It's a hell of a lot slimmer, has so far been as fall resistant and it actually does appear to be waterproof after a recent accident.

Another great thing has been my multi travel adaptor with two USB ports, I think they are actually for sale in the AFF store
