Looking to book 3 nts for a visit to Las Vegas for a trade show in Sept - anybody with clues how to get best rates at Bellagio please.

They do look to have a pretty straight forward Best Rate Guarantee - MGM Resorts International - Best Rates Guarantee- anybody ever been successful in lowering rate via this path?

Anybody have intel on cheaper way to book hotel rather then Bellagio web site?

PS - Please everybody DO NOT tell Boomy I will definitely be trying the $20 sandwich trick at check in.

Stay mid-week. You can try the note 'sandwich' but I know people who try it at MGM properties and have had zero success (from dozens of attempts across all the properties). I believe staff can be fired for doing so as it's technically theft from their employer (don't get into morals and what not, I know how the USA works, just stating that it's a dismissable offence).

If you can get Hyatt status somehow, as has been suggested, parlay that to M life (takes a phone call after you've signed up to sort it out, well it used to). The M life portal for elites has preferred rates, which i've found to be excellent.

Of course if you have any intentions of gambling, contact the hotel and advise your games/expected wager turnover, and hotel rooms become free (I know people who routinely do this too, but they will play low risk games to do so and gaurantee a lot of turnover).

Thanks aa - as I am attending trade show dates are fixed - Sept 15, 16 and 17 which just happens to be mid week - will play with the M life and see if I can score that way. Not a gambler in casinos - I trade 12mths of year with Chinese - no bigger gamble than that!

Suggest you lock in rates then. If you book direct with M life (even if you have no status) most are 100% flexible up until 24 hours prior to arrival. I frequently will book something and monitor. If something else becomes available, I simply book it and cancel the original.

Enjoy Vegas (if you've not been before). It is unlike *any* other place in the world (it's bats##t crazy, I love it).

As an added bonus it's also a great place (or was) to start a run if you're after QF SC's.

Doubt Cruiser is interested in SC. He flies plenty and all in SQ suites.

FWIW I will be staying at the Vdara come July this year. I have stayed at the Bellagio before and whilst I like the outdoor pool area, I felt it was a bit too old for me, as I say, my parents would like staying there - but not me. The lakeview rooms are nice, but if I want a lakeview room I rather stay at Planet Hollywood where not only have I see the lake but also with the Eiffel Tower and balloon adjacent to my right, full size.

As I started to read this thread I was wondering why anybody had suggested perhaps another alternative to the Bellagio. My parents and son & daughter have all stayed at The Bellagio and they have confirmed what Alanslegal mentioned. The hotel is a bit rundown. Cruiser, consideirng you're not after gambling then Vdara is very good as well as the Hilton Elara (we stayed there last year) Both close to the strip. I guess it depends where your trade show is. (or the Pole dancing clubs):D

Thanks for the input guys - firstly I only stay right on strip - not even 1 mtr off - Bellagio it is this year. Will have Cruiserette with me - Sensis in Bellagio her favourite restaurant in LV - we had a ball in the cigar bar there last Sept - and just across road from Mon Ami - and I gotta ask - 'What are status credits?' - and which casino are they redeemable at pls?

Play the "MyVegas" game through Facebook and iPhone/IPad app. It won't take you long to earn enough of the yellow loyalty chips to be able to purchase one of the hotel awards.

Two awards currently offered that are within easy reach are $129/night rate and 25% off the MLife room rate.

What, you don't have your favourite tea bag stash in your suitcase side pocket wherever you go ... ;)

QUOTE=amaroo;1186513]Last time we were there (breakfast) they didn't have a tea leaf/bag in the place!

Nearly ruin my day.[/QUOTE]

Checked into Salone Suite in Bellagio late this arvo - WOW great room - so spacious. Headed down to Baccarat Bar for pre dinner drink - Veuve USD28/glass + tax + tip - makes the CM deal kinda look worth the sugar huh?

And the saga continues - as we sat in Baccarat Bar having a Veuve Cruiserette pointed to a poker machine and proclaimed she could win on that machine - yeah whatever.

Whilst I was at trade show today she headed back to machine and proceeded to milk it for $1,760 - and real $$s too - not our south seas pesos!

I hope she can pick the Lotto numbers for you also!
