There was a period of 28 minutes in which both pilots were asleep.

I know they're both part of the Lion Air group, but I wonder how similar (or not) Batik Air Malaysia and Indonesia are.

I'd be surprised if the culture and safety differs much among any of the airlines within Lion Air group. Why I won't step foot on any of them.

Whilst that may be true (and see links below), yet another red-flag for that particular airline group. Not a group I'm keen to fly on.

And to think I took a $40 two hour long cross island flight with a subsidiary of Lion so new that it is not even called Lion or Batik (instead it's called SuperJetAir). Thoroughly enjoyed it felt like an adventure (the sort of rush you get when flying in the Amazon rainforest I suppose). But I would say their customer service is over and beyond (the ground crew not the online CS).
