May 2nd so it took 6 days.

Mine was sent out on the same day. Given that I live in Perth, I'll probably receive it at the end of next week. Unless it arrives on Monday or Tuesday when I'm out bush. :-|

Still waiting after 9 days.

Not surprised. Check through the previous messages on this thread to see the similar problems I and many others had with Bankwest. Can't wait for the points to land so I can cancel.

my wife has been waiting over a month....(and that is after sending payslips, following up,sending payslips again, and then being approved....)

I thought that having an Australian credit card is going to make this simpler.

That's about how long I waited as well, even after several phone calls to them. They don't seem to have any concerns about dealing with applications in a timely manner.

A month is just unacceptable. I rang them up and got a confirmation that it was mailed out on 04 May. I can't imagine anything taking that long to get across Australia.

Mine took the full 10 business days to reach Sydney metro.

I received mine today as well and that was despite calling them to hurry them up :)

I was informed by Bankwest that my card needs to be cancelled as it's been 11 days since the email, and they fear it was lost in the post or someone's taken it (I'm away often). With my luck, the cancelled card will be in the mail tomorrow. <rolleyes>

Also, although my postal address is my office (so that reception can receive it and keep it save while I'm away), the card was sent to my home address (where I receive virtually no mail). I wasn't given that piece of information until today (I was told the reason is that it's a new card) and had no idea that's the practice. Just FYI.

I applied on 6th April, and got a yes back subject to paperwork straight away. Anyway, they have come back to me 3 times for more paperwork (including wanting dividend statements from last year - long painful job to find, since most statements are not in paper copy). Still waiting. Rang to check on progress, and mentioned that I wanted to take the card overseas in 6 weeks time. The CSR suggested that I should have a backup plan (yes I have - 28 Degree card and Qantas cash). Terrible customer service - slow slow slow. Why would they encourage people to apply, but not have the manpower to process timely? When the customer is angry at this early stage - they are doing something wrong. I'm a patient person, but it has been 5 weeks!

Had a similar experience. I tore shreads of the customer service person with no benefit. Eventually got the card. Can't wait for the points so i can cancel.

Received the 5th phone call last night, wanting more paperwork for my credit card application. 'Best practice' would suggest a clear list at the beginning of the process of what they require, rather than returning to me every week for more (and different) information. Depending on who calls me, the requirements change too. It is also clear that the people calling me don't grasp basic financial concepts (most dividends post twice a year, and not EXACTLY 6 months apart).

I was told recently that they wanted dividend statements to support the information from my last tax return - when I asked if she wanted ALL of them, she said no, just the big shareholdings. Last night, they wanted EVERYTHING and it had to be exactly within 6 months of the application date. I don't know if they mean within 6 calendar months? Considering I applied in early April, and most dividends posted last October (you get the idea - it was 7 months ago).

Normal credit card companies are satisfied with a few years tax returns and proof of total shareholdings.

I mentioned to my husband how difficult the process was becoming, and we had a little laugh at what Bankwest must require for a home loan (something serious, as compared to a little credit card) - probably ASIO checks? maybe a blood test? maybe a body cavity search?

I love a 'computer says no' mentality.

Can't say that I have ever had an application so difficult - normally it is easy, no dramas.

The (not so) funny thing is that I have a home loan with BW and all that was required from a financial perspective (from memory) was 3 months bank statements and recent payslips

This is why I never include investment income in credit card applications. Too hard basket...

Same here. Just too hard for them to understand. I just include my wages and that has always been sufficient.
