Bankstown airport a commercial airport??

At work, I saw a copy of Airports magazine, which had someone elses name on it, who no longer works there, and grabbed it.
In an article, it stated that Bankstown airport in Sydney could be used by A318's in the near future. The article stated that with its ability to land from a steeper angle, it could reduce the noise, so as not to annoy the residents.
With the cheaper operating costs, it looks like a good opportunity to grab.
If you live in Sydney, would you consider flying from Bankstown, or continue flying from Kingsford-Smith??
Would DJ or JQ even consider the option??

Although the A318 can operate from such airports, and has been certified to operate from LCY (London City) airport using the steeper decent and climb rates required for that airport, it is not really an economical aircraft to use as a single type in a fleet.

The A318 is the smallest of the A320 family. It makes sense for existing A320 family fleet operators to include in their mix if they have a need for thinner routes. The commonality with other A320 family aircraft from a crew and maintenance perspective make it viable.

But its an expensive option for someone just needing an aircraft in the 100 pax segment. There are more economical aircraft to purchase and operate at that end of the market, such as the Embraer RJ190/195 or Dornier 728.

So the only airline in Australia that may consider the A318 as an addition to an existing fleet would be Jetstar.
