Bangkok again with Singapore and Batam.

Breakfast in the lounge finishes at 1030. We walked in at 1028 and they were just starting to pack up. they brought back items that had been removed. We filled a couple of plates each and let them get back to cleaning up.
Now one of those moments when you remember that there is something wrong. We were moving down town to the IC so had asked for a 3pm check out which was granted. But remembered just in time we had a lunch booking for Whitegrass in Chjimes. So straight up and packed up and back down to the lounge to check out about 1130..

So down t o the arrival hall and out to the taxi rank. no one else in line but no taxis. We were halted at the door whilst the woman on duty got a cab to come. Two arrived and we picked up our bags when a young woman went around us on the left and a fellow on the right. although the woman tried to stop them so we had to wait for a third one fortunately in 2 minutes.
A quick trip to the IC expecting to just leave our bags and go to lunch. I had used a suite upgrade certificate. However a suite was ready so upstairs and a quick unpack.
So the room-

That looks just like the room I had but it couldn't have been as we had 4pm checkout. I was in 1516 with daughter slumming it down the corridor in 1508 (non suite). 😁

About 10 days before. Though the upmarket Singapore restaurants are obviously a bit quiet as the next day i looked at booking another 1 star restaurant for lunch in the next 2 days and about 10 were available.

So back to Singapore. That first was down to the IC club on the second floor. Large and never crowded. Occasionally though service was a little slow.Singapore is known for it's orchids.

First up I had a tomato soup which was excellent.

Then you have to order the nights fresh canapes. They were a sweet potato cake, chicken bau and fried chicken. you could order multiple times if you wished.

Then there was a buffet.IMG_0495.jpg

I took it easy the next day. Breakfast was good although egg Benedict was served with smoked salmon.

We did try to go for a walk in the early afternoon but as soon as we stepped outside a thunderstorm hit. So the first thing was to go back to the club that evening. we had talked to a couple from Melbourne late on the first night and shared a table with them tonight. Two very different backgrounds leading to some quite remarkably similiar in outcomes in life. By the end of the 4th night we were in a position to solve the world's problems.
Minestrone the soup for the night. good but not outstanding.

The hot canapes were sugar cane prawn which was very nice. Chicken slider which was a bit messy to eat and fried cheese.
IMG_0504.jpg

My usual dish was a good dollop of hummus and some blue cheese.

The cold canapes.

The red wines. A Cab Sav and a Pinot noir.

I always started the night with a G&T then wine. The first night I had the Cab Sav and then I switched to the Pinot which I preferred.
