It's a lottery. Some people have just flown in and out on their booked flights without an issue. Others on our plane have been stuck there for 6 and for 7 days. Thanks, I'll bring some eye drops for the hayfever. Checked my insurance, up to $1100 accom/incidentals for delayed flight, so should cover a few bottles of sparkling. If I can go, I'll go.
Check bookings.com. Heaps of cheap luxury accommodation there at the moment. Doesn't really matter if one gets stuck if one has no commitments.
Cheers,
Renato
Thanks. A minority of locals are wearing masks. Most everyone doesn't.That reroute is quite common due to it seems Aussie airlines not wanting to spend more fuel flying in a different flight path to avoid any ash. Thats why you can fly out to Singapore.
We took industry standard face masks a couple of weeks ago and left them there in case others needed them. Available from hardware stores etc.
Can't see why they are needed.
Some days the volcano had a slightly sulphury sewerage smell for an hour. Masks couldn't have helped that.
Cheers,
Renato
I thought Bali was excluded from such coverage according to newspaper articles. Thanks, I'll bring some eye drops for the hayfever. Checked my insurance, up to $1100 accom/incidentals for delayed flight, so should cover a few bottles of sparkling. If I can go, I'll go.
