Bali Belly or Volcanoes?

We are SOLD! Locked in first short trip to Bali & Ritz Carlton. Thanks @Pushka for assisting in the decision making :)
Tip. Bring in your own spirits or wine if you like that poison. And snacks. It’s expensive in Bali but having a drink and nibbles on the balcony is really nice. Make sure you get the ice bucket topped up each night. Breakfast is excellent so eat up. You can order lattes as well although they just say coffee (the jug stuff). We haven’t used the buggies except on arrival. It’s not that far to walk at all.
Lots of my photos from last night haven’t posted. A little weird. Will try again. Oh. I see what I did there.

We also visited Rice Terraces. I seems to have posted this twice in the Office thread last night..
These aren’t the best in Bali but seemed popular with tourists.

There are lots of weddings here. Plus portraits. This girl in red looked a little worried. Must photoshop the intruder when I get back.

Yesterday we saw a girl in bright red long dress and ‘trailing veil’ having professional portraits up high on a large black Hindu temple. The photos would have looked stunning - bright red dress being the only colour against a dark grey temple. Would have loved to get a photo but we were in the car.

Bit of a snaffu last night.
We received a letter the day before advising of routine maintenance of air conditioning units and it would be out from 1.30pm until 3.30pm. And thanking us for understanding. ;). We are usually out at the pool then but rooms do heat up with heat (91 and 90% humidity). Oh well.

Got back to rooms at 4.30 pm and hot as hell. Turned up air conditioner and after our showers the heat was rising. Plus - the night time service had already been done - they’d only done the morning service at 1pm and by 4 the evening service had been done?

Contacted guest relations and they advised another 7 hours. Great. A flight out tomorrow overnight and no sleep tonight. Not gonna happen. We could change rooms but needed to vacate our room. Not gonna happen. No way were we going to pack and unpack for 1 night. And why the heck didn’t they tell us about the delay.

Low occupancy and just 10 people affected. So hung up and thought about options. We decided to pack a small bag as an overnight thing and return to our room which we’d actually booked for an extra day so we had access until we left at 6pm.

Checked out our sleeping room. Well, it was gorgeous.

Huge. Double sinks looking into largest shower then bath through the balcony.

And now a toilet review. It’s aimed at the Japanese market. Love ‘em.

Yes. A dryer function.

The last three tiny buttons on the right control seat up/down and lid up/down.

Need a night visit and no torch? No problem. As you walk in the lid raises and there’s a light.

So. A few days earlier MrP ordered a dish that was pasta. Linguine. He thought he’d do so again this night. Marinara.
Now, there’s no mention of pizza. Out came a marinara pizza! Nup. Sent it back and I think it wasn’t the first time this had happened.

What no music /waterfall sounds ?? I love those Japanese toilets - the ones in the Westin Tokyo have it all and you choose either music or a tinkling waterfall !!! (mrs.dr.ron posting on Rons computer :D )

There was a kind of bubbly water noise ‘when seated’ :D I couldn’t see to change it to music though.

Beware the ice!

And it was at an kiwi expat restaurant. After that, we were ok with street vendor ice and no problems at all from them.
A few trips ago we watched the rats run along the overhead rafters at Bali Aussie. Dreadful place.

Sigh.
That's what I love about Japan - its toilets! Not only that but ANA had washlet loos onboard the plane we were on.

Our next home, which will be built for us, will have Japanese toilets! If he gets the entire upstairs (which is 3 bedrooms, living room, full bathroom, study nook and balcony), which will be called Mr Denali-Land, I get a japanese toilet!

Ah. Serenity in the spa.

Then a shrieking and raised voices. And a pack of monkeys appeared on the high wall. Classic human family. The mum carrying the baby.

Spa pool looks AMAZING!

Monkeys = mobile rabies makers. No thanks.

I never travel without Immoden now... learnt the bad way.

I recommend Travelan. Available at all chemists, cheapest at Chemist Warehouse. One tablet with each meal and no tummy upsets. Something in it kills the harmful bacteria in food.

Used it extensively through India and no problems.
