Each time I have noticed damage to a bag, I've taken it straight to the desk near the baggage carousel and was given a damaged bag report to complete. In both cases they were repaired including a new set of wheels because the other set had vanished! But in my case I had to take it to a luggage shop in Mascot to get it repaired.
The other thing I liked was that there were no questions asked. Just took me at my word including the value of the bag.
It's nice to know that you can report the damage a few days later and still get it repaired..

I was expecting the golf travel bag to be repaired but to my surprise I received a brand new one, unopened and still in the box, from QF.
You have to be happy about that!

What about my steel/cane clubs? Would they be considered fragile?
Yes. Dropped from a height a few times and they could be damaged.

QF offered to courier both bags to Mascot and then also couriered them back to me, free of charge, when the repair shop returned them to baggage services at Airport and not to me.

I was told any damage needs to be reported within 7 days from day of flight.

Could not wish for better service. Most people on AFF like to criticise QF but in my experience their customer service is excellent.

A general (OT) question on golf clubs.

When I use straight shafted clubs the ball always goes anywhere but straight

Has anyone tried baggage handler modified clubs and seen an improvement? I'm thinking of backing over them myself on Saturday if my recent golf form continues....

LOL. Not advisable. I have seen someone use a golf club (4 iron) for ~6 months that was modified by a tree. Same person used a putter for a few years that was modified by a different tree. Hard to believe but his golf game did not improve during this time.

Sounds like his choice of gardening implements is a bit dodgy too. :D
