Hi there,

there seems to be some confusion about the baggage allowance for Oneworld Elites on QF domestic flights.

Rules can be found here:

https://www.oneworld.com/ffp/extra-baggage-allowance

  • On domestic itineraries only with flights using the baggage allowance "piece" system, you are guaranteed at least one piece of checked baggage, weighing up to 23 kgs, even when the regular ticketed allowance has no free allowance.

This reads to me like you get nothing in excess of the already allowed 23kg when flying Y - or another bag at up to 23kg?

I also found this on FT:

https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qan...gage-allowance-policy-domestic-flights-2.html

Does anyone have recent experience with this issue?

Thanks!

I would go by the following
https://www.qantas.com/fflyer/dyn/flying/tier-benefits
You can see the one world section near the bottom along with foot note 37
37. On flights operated or marketed by any oneworld partner airline, Sapphire members travelling in Economy and Premium Economy on international or domestic itineraries using the baggage allowance “weight” system receive 15 kgs in addition to the ticketed Economy allowance; on international itineraries (including domestic sectors flown as part of international itineraries) using the baggage allowance “piece” system – receive a second bag, weighing up to 23 kgs, when the ticketed allowance is one bag; on purely domestic itineraries with flights using the baggage allowance “piece” system – the assurance of at least one piece of checked baggage, weighing up to 23 kgs, even when the regular ticketed allowance has no free allowance.

I am a QFF so im not sure how other alliance members would be treated. I feel that they would treat them the same as their own members for baggage allowance. But i could be wrong

Sapphire is equal to QF Gold. So perhaps 2x32kg.

How much are you planning to need?

Thanks for your reply.

Not planning on needing much extra weight but possibly an additional bag.
