I believe they’ve changed the music - they were playing a slow piano instrumental of “I Still Call Australia Home” on QF825 on Friday. Unless it’s just for the festive season.

Fun facts: The guitar on that track is played by Nathan Cavaleri who took up guitar as a five-year-old to take his mind off childhood leukaemia.

At 9 he was granted a wish by a children’s charity to play with Mark Knopfler.

By age 13 he was in remission.

He also played at the opening ceremony of the Sydney Paralympics.

As for his greatest claim to fame... it’s line ball between jamming on Hey Hey it’s Saturday at age 10, and playing guitar on the QF theme.

Flew SYD-MEL recently and they played both Haydn Walker’s music and the ‘I Still Call Australia Home’ piano tune during embarking and disembarking.

This is the only recording of Qantas’ ‘I Still Call Australia Home’ piano rendition I could find; on YouTube. *Will try and record the tune next time I fly. 🙂
