There is a big difference between the new CW and the old CW - - AVOD for a start (I think). Also it is a fully flat bed and on BA you can preallocate exit rows on the upper deck (assuming QF Gold or WP)

I'm AA PLT. Can I preallocate exit rows on the upper deck?

Do you have to go via SIN? I am flying LHR-HKG-SYD on BA/QF. Sure I have a few hours in HKG to kill (about 2 - time for a bite in the Wing ;)).

I'm trying to maximise my DONE4 segments. LHR-SIN-SYD or LHR-BKK-SYD on either BA or QF will cost me 1 segment whereas LHR-HKG-SYD will cost me 2 segments.

Yup - you can preallocate being Sapphire. Shame about HKG routing - but btter to maximise your enjoyment of the trip rather than just being quirky like me ;)

Thanks for the confirmation simongr, now how do I preallocate?
I think I'll stick to BA with LHR-BKK-SYD routing. Being on 747, should have an excellent chance for New CW seat. Probably in this case would be better that QF.

Gp to British Airways and select "Manage My Booking" (I have it bookmarked so not sure if there is anotehr click). Then using your record locator - this can be found by calling QF or if your booking shows in "my bookings" on the QF website it will be there - it is a 6 letter/number reference) and your surname go into your booking.

Then you have a host of options - meal preferences, advance passenger info etc. And of course seating - then just go into that and pick a seat.

It is all pretty self-explanatory.

Hope it works out for you :)

You can preallocate exits, though my preference is row 14 on the lower deck if you either have a J or C fare or OW Sapphire/Emerald.

It does happen that AA status does not always get picked up properly and in this case pre-selection will not be available; if this occurs , call BA and get you AA number removed and re-added and check with them that your status shows; then seat-selection will be available

I have flown 4 sectors with BA in economy recently and I don't think there is great deal of difference to the economy product offered by QF except for maybe the IFE.

If find the BA FAs to be a little friendlier, the food is roughly the same and BA appears to be more generous with the flow of alcohol.

Given a choice I would go with QF due to Platinum status but other than that not a great deal of difference.

For me very similar, QF better of you like watching movies etc.
As i have commented before if your temp sensitive then QF is cooler and BA is warmer.
