Hi

Do QF platinum, gold or QC members (i.e. One World emerald and saphire for the first two) get any extra baggage allowance when travelling on an international economy BA flights?

No.

It is only on QF metal. However you might get preferential treatment being top tier - but don't bank on it. Increased baggage allowances are not a OW benefit.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings

Thanks.

Does this rule change if connecting to another OW flight in a higher class? i.e. europe BA economy flight, connecting to a QF business flight with a 4 hour transfer time...?

If you are on separate tickets, then you will be entitled to the BA allowance for economy classs, which is 1*23Kg ( 32 until end of Sep ).

You may , in this case, check baggage through to the BA destination, collect bags and then check in with QF and then get the QF bonus allowance on the QF flight

If on a single ticket , then you should, iirc, be entitled to the BA business allowance which is 3*23 Kg ( 32kg until end of sep )

Ok, its a separte ticket, so the econ limit applies. I cant find anything about this 32kg limit you mention, but my flights are in the first week of September, so this is quite good news. I am guessing that they recently lowered it, and are having a grace period for the transition, without penatly?

BA are implementing a new baggage policy - no bags over 23KG and then going to a piece allowance. It was meant to be in already but they have delayed it until Sep. I think it has been delayed due to one bag for hand luggage in LHR - that might be being relaxed soon...

They have already gone to a piece system

Economy - 1PC
World Traveller Plus - 2PC
Business and 1st - 3 PC

Until 30 SEP, they will allow up to 32Kg per piece; from 1 OCT, the max weight per piece drops to 23Kg
