BA Booking in QF metal during the uncertainty?

I'm looking to book a return trip to the UK at the end of the month and usually prefer to fly QF, so as to get on the A380.

Given the level of uncertainty at the moment (if required, arbitration would be happening about the time I'm leaving, am away and wanting to get home) am i better off making my booking via BA, but selecting QF metal for my flights?

The reason i ask, is that if the QF situation goes to hell in a hand-basket again (grounding planes), would i be correct in assuming that BA would place their customers ahead of displaced QF customers when organising alternate flights, assuming all other things are equal?

Feel free to unload on me if its a stupid question or stick the boots in if you think I'm being a little bit too precious.

Interesting theory - but I would first question whether there is any real uncertainty at the moment. All industrial action has been terminated at this point.

Good insurance policy - maybe.

However, as simongr, has correctly pointed out it should all be plain flying from here - enjoy your trip.

If nothing else it will probably be easier to get BA on the phone if it happens.

Interesting idea, but I'd say it's unnecessary. In theory BA is likely to look after it's own in the event of another grounding. However mostly likely there would need to be seats available on BA birds. A QF booking going to hell in a handbasket is likely to allow much more freedom in which carrier you can use (as they "caused" the mess so to speak).

But as simongr pointed out, right now no industrial action can be taken by either side so chances are your chosen flights will happen as scheduled.
