Hello all and sundry :)

I recall an announcement re the 747's commencing SYD-PER circa May/June (however couldn't find the thread).

This now out from Qantas:

Starting this month, experience Qantas' globally-renowned international product with the introduction of B747 and A330 aircraft on selected flights from Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne to Perth. It's a new standard of domestic travel.

Is there a way to find out which days/flights the 747 is being used (without looking at the schedule and clicking on every flight number!)?

Starting 30th of May on Mon Tue Wed Thu leaving SYD at 10.10 other days this flight is operated by a 332

-edit-
flight nr is QF581

BNE shows no 330's for May or June;

MEL has the following options but I must say I am not sure which one has the MKI

11 QF 481 1347 MEL 1 PER 2 1845 2100 0 29MAY11 02JUN11 332 4:15

And as always, they can change it anytime before you get on it :)

Well, hovering rather than clicking will do it ... and it's only for three routes. ;)

Yer but, no but, Days/Times/Flights Numbers for all 3 routes?

Ditto - announcement via email, light on the detail.

MEL has the following options but I must say I am not sure which one has the MKI

Thanks for the pasted data - fly from MEL regularly and I'm used to a mixed bag of 332, 333, 767, 737... more interested in the 747's so I can plan flights accordingly
. :)

It doesn't take that long to hover over the weekly timetable view for return flights on one sector. From there you can ascertain the usual pattern of flight #s and aircraft allocation. Of course, if you're trying to track down the odd flight on a 333 ...

I'm pretty sure that the 747s are only on PER-SYD and vv., with 333s PER-MEL and vv.
PER-BNE and vv. is only getting domestic 332s on 1 flight each day QF650/QF597.

The wording of the promotional email is ambiguous enough to possibly imply 747s and 330s on each route, but it does not actually say that. Indeed, 747s and 330s will operate on the main routes from the east to PER but, not all aircraft on each of them.

As a side note, it looks like the implementation of the new aircraft roster has been delayed - I was going to be flying on a 332 PER-BNE on 08/06/11 but as of today I've been downgraded to a 763.

Fair point you make. Although a long-haul flight attendant I was speaking with socially a month ago was under the impression they would be leaving from MEL also.

I guess the ambiguity from QF translates to corporate communications too ;)

Only a little better from where I sit - at least we have a couple of 332's.

Anyone able confirm what seating config QF have started using for the 744 runs on PER <> SYD ??

Davo

QF581 from Syd - well spotted.

Now just need to find one ex-MEL :)

No luck, have checked the timetable for MEL PER for the rest of this year and no 747 there...
