AY flights showing up on award booking options

Do AY flights usually show up on award bookings from Asia to Europe? A lot of EK and QR flights I was looking at a few days ago ( availability open on every day, often for multiple flights) have disappeared in favor of Ay flights (all in Y too). Insights?

I usually get them when I do multicity bookings (I use multicity even for point to point as there seem to be lots more options)

Yes I do this too.

Indeed it often seems to be the only way to see these options and can be a great way to save on fees while also get J availability when "direct" will often show no J availability.
