Award Payment Fail - 4620 Error

Anyone encounter payment issues when booking awards?

I've been trying to book EK award ex germany.
Yesterday I found availability and tried booking but it failed during payment with 4620 error. I tried with multiple cards to no avail.
So I thought start again, but now the availability then disappeared. The seats may be held up by my failed booking.

Today, the availability came back confirmed by checking expert flyer, again the same issue. Payment fails with 4620 error, tried multiple cards including debit card. I gave up and checked EF again, availability has disappeared. Hopefully they come back tomorrow.

Any idea how to fix this? Don't want to call QFF, as a NB my call wait times run into hours.
 
Just use sms chat with them if you don't want to wait on hold or organise the call back.
 
Interesting....I was making FF J class bkgs just recently and I received that same payment error and I was bkg seats from Singapore on Qatar. I was on my older Apple Macbook Pro and I called Qf but wait time was 2 1/2hrs so while waiting I decided to use my IPad Mini which is only a few years old and the bkg and payment both went through.
 
Always phone when the system throws errors. They don’t seem to resolve spontaneously very often. From what a QF agent told me last week when I had to phone to snare some QR F & J seats because of a ‘system error’, EK and QR are prone to throwing these responses.
 
Hmm... will call them tomorrow when the seats show up again.

Ps. Looks like sms is not as quick as it used to be. Texted an hour ago no response from “real agent” yet
 
I’ve booked multiple EK award flights in the last 12 months and *always* get a problem at the last stage. Every time I’ve had to call QF and get the (always) lovely agent to book my itineraries manually. Every agent said this is common and it’s a problem at the EK end (allegedly).

I’m glad I can get through to a QF agent immediately as everyone knows that feeling when you find F availability and spend that few minutes deciding to call and thinking someone somewhere in the world will steal it. Much worse for a Bronze who has found their dream seat after much searching.

Booking fees are waived as you can’t book online.

Next time I’ll call QF direct when I find availability.

Despite on line payment failure it is likely that you had actually obtained the seats and they were being held for you. That is why you could no longer see the seats when you tried to search again.

This happened to me twice in recent weeks and I used the call back service and made an over the phone payment for the booking that I was not sure that I actually had succesfully made!

Be prepared for some hours before Qantas call you back.

I was contacted by qantas regarding unpaid bookings on my profile, so a booking was created even though the payment failed. I called back and payment processed and tix issued in minutes (although the hold was over 3 hours)

Having worked in airline Reservations for many years, if you get through a bkg but it won't allow you to finish at close to the end, a shell will often be created with an automatic xxl time. If you think that has happened if you call then the bkg can be finalised manually and mostly in AUD even if in another currency. Only thing sometimes is that those seats that were not required due to several attempts at bkg online and a shell created are now not showing up to try again. It is not a guarantee that once the unwanted/untkted flts do cancel out they will go back into the inventory.
