I've forgotten - are Emirates award seats only bookable thru QF, or is AA another option? Mrs Franky has just been invited to speak at a nursing symposium in Leeds (LBA) mid September and I can see some award seats available for the flights there. Have enough points with AA and VA to book, but nowhere near enough with QF. Cash prices range from $10K-$12K return each at this late stage! Thanks in anticipation for any advice...

What about BA with QF points to LHR then train to Leeds?

EK and QR are only available closer to the date on QF points
As stated initially, we have very few QF points, so that option is a no-go. The EF options have rail in most of their options, though the trail times vary from 2 hours to 4 hours. Will look at the EY option as well. Thanks all for the advice - will advise the outcome.

I suggest you have another look on QF. Appeared yesterday, don’t know how long they will last. Both Business and First available into Australia. I’m being cryptic but this is a run don’t walk situation if you want to burn some QF points. Taxes are $$$ but them are the breaks currently. YMMV.

Thanks - I guess a booking needs to be done by phone? I’ve tried as many ways online that I can and they don’t come up with the direct flights where the seats are available
i have been going through this for the past few months and havent gotten anywhere,
you can book a emirates flight by phone,
i havent looked at qantas flights, but i assumed the taxes/surcharges are just as ridiculous (I hope not)

but all partner airlines, ive called multiple times and got different answers, but i got in writing that i haveto find the flight myself on the partner website, and then I have to call emirates and check if that flight is availalbe.......

this will be the first and last time i used emirates rewards program

for those playing the redemption of miles game/situation,

I finally booked my flight today, emirates extended my miles for a final time, exp 01/03/2023

I tried booking a partner airline, tried 3 of them, tried destination, europe, asia, anywhere from 2 months 11 monts (max i was told), according to them I had to go to the partner airlines website, find whats available, and then have to call emirates and ask them if its available for redemption,

I tried heaps of combinations, not one available,

so I bit the bullet and booked a 1 way to LHR using 240,000 miles flying emirates, had to buy 10,000 miles at almost $450 as I was short, PLUS pay $1800 odd in tax/surchage, chose F, as the fees for J were the same, I could have used the same miles and done a return trip but then I would have had to pay $3600 odd in extras

website didnt work, so I had to call them to book the flights, the evening flights were all sold out so its a 6am flight

they said I could change the ticket but if I booked a flight with less taxes/surcharges, I would NOT get a refund, as my undestanding was that emirates have temporariliy increased everything,

I was thinking about just letting them expire but seemed like quite a waste

leaves a huge bitter taste in my mouth, but i wont be using hte program again unless surcharges/taxes come down to simialr to other airlines, or there is a realistic chance to book a partner airline

very poor program in my opinion, maybe its a program suited for the richer
